Slitting my wrists in vain,Just so i can feel the pain,
Watching the scarlet flow,
While snowflakes fall outside my window.
A veil of snow and white,
Obscuring all impurities from sight,
I have no veil, nothing to hide behind,
That's why i feel i'm losing my mind.
I wish i could fade into the night,
At this rate i just might,
A world of my own i created,
With constant drug abuse permeated.
I can't keep hurting the ones i love,
But this plague of mine i can't succumb,
Gone too far for redemption,
I drank too much of the poison.
Numb with bitterness and regret,
Watching the snowflakes i temporarily forget,
The gashes in my wrists,
With the warm red flowing down my fists.

This is a very powerful poem, Nas. Kinda gets a lump in my throat, though. Its very disturbing and unnerving. I could never agree with the idea of suicide. When you begin feeling like that, its usually a result of not letting people know how you feel and what's bothering you, thus botteling all the feelings inside of you which is not at all healthy. Its also good to speak to someone that can really understand you, someone close. I am really sorry to hear about your friend taking his life, that's really awful.
I personally, would never do something like that - I still have my whole life ahead of me and I am not afraid to live it!

Philosophical shouldn't be too hard, 'cause its kinda metaphorical and very subjective type of writing. It usually explores your personal views on things, beliefs, morals, analysing, etc...
Ya know haiku? the shortest poem that has 3 lines but 17 syllables, well that is almost always based on nature and yet is full of metaphors if you read it again and again, thus is philosophical.
But meh...what the hell...write what you want and what ya feel.
