I want to be that good too.hahah I have just done this all on my own,I dont even know what charcoal to buy or what to draw on..lol..wow..

wow thanks loads Tupac is my first charcoal portrait . i use boldmere charcoal pencils. compressed pure charcoal. what do you use ? drawing is a hobby of mine but if you need advice and think i can help just ask anytime .your work is great by the way!!!

oh thanks honey,I'm so new to this..I just use compressed soft charcoal..its in little sticks hahah shows how much I know..And I use Canson brand paper for charcoal(18X24) ..it seems to be working for me hahah You are amazing my friend..I will take all the advice and help I can get..Thanks so much.

no probs Thats what its all about..trying new things and see what best works for you!
i use tissue paper to blend with and for fine areas i do a circular motion with it over the area.and always lean on a seperate piece of paper without sliding it.saves the mess of looking like a coal man ha

hahah I have an easel so I draw them upright..but I use my fingers for all of it so I'm pretty messy when I'm done hahah its so fun though, I love charcoal...You are brilliant and I'm going to learn so much from you..

using your fingers is fun ( sounds dodgy ha ) but the salt that comes out in our sweat pores can damage the drawing and make smudges that can rub out . do you get finger prints all over the place ? my light swithes and doors and kettle look like something from a crime scene investigation when i have finished drawing ha

I'm pretty good at keeping the oils off them.I have a towel that I constantly use..and yes I learned the hard way..big print in the middle of a forehead teaches you a lesson quick hahahahah

I have a commission I need to start but I hate the picture so I'm trying to figure out a better way to do it..two faces on a page..i don't like that.i want one face to take up the page..and I dont care for the paper sideways..she might get a two for one deal so I like them hahah

some commissions tend to put me off drawing.If you dont like the picture its no fun and becomes a boring task n frustrates me ha If i dont like the pic i tend to tell the person( talk them into) changing it!! cos the Angle looks bad etc I had to draw a Spaniel a while ago and the Hair on the thing was a nightmare .It took me twice as long to do n i havent done a dog since !! Try getting bigger paper and drawing in a small box so it fits ??? haha

hah yes as you can tell i like the faces edge to edge the best..this is a couple getting married and I just dont like the lay out..she is one of my high school friends for 35 yrs and yikes..thats a tough one, I want it perfect..haha
