Description FINALLY this is done! This is the layout of the actual kennel part of our kennel-slash-lodge. The lodge part will come eventually.

So most of this is pretty self explanatory considering everything's written on the map, but here's some detail, as well as a list of who's in what kennel:

DETAILS

PARKING LOT
As you can see, there's no roads in this area save for the one that leads down from the lodge. The parking lot has fourteen spaces and two handicap spots (the whole kennel is completely wheelchair accessible). Should overflow parking be required, there's loads of grass alongside the road where people are welcome to park!

From here, the rest of the kennel is available for viewing on foot or by golf carts.

OFFICE
This may well be your first stop. This is where you inquire about purchasing a dog, behind the scenes tours, or housing your dog during your stay. There's a front office with sofas, chairs, computers and the like, and a file room where you can examine our dogs' pedigrees and other such information. The toilet is located here. The storeroom is off limits to guests.

THE KENNELS
Our main kennel has a total of eighteen large enclosures, each with an indoor section and a partially covered outdoor section, available to the dogs at will (during the day) through a dog door. The outdoor kennel can open up to the attached dog run. The enclosures will house two dogs each, though if needed can comfortably hold three. Odd numbered kennels are for females, and even for males. While the females are in heat, the kennels can be separated by a metal wall (which pulls up out of the actual wall between the two doors), cutting the building in two. The dog run can also be separated by roll-away stone gate that is usually kept in the big storage space behind the office. During hot summer days, the whole place is cooled by electric fans. During cold winter days, it is heated.

The two rooms within the building are the grooming room and kitchen, where dogs are bathed and clipped, and food and equipment (leashes and collars etc) are stored. Meals are served twice a day -- once at 6.30 am, and once at 7.00 pm.

INDOOR ARENA
The indoor arena is where we hold some of our dog shows and, more frequent, conduct training sections. Agility, obedience, and the like are all practiced here. On rainy or exceptionally cold days, the dogs are taken to this rather large area to run and play. The play area, as we call it, is separated from the entrances by panelled walls and gates to prevent any dog from bolting and escaping.

SHOW/TRAINING AREA
On nice days, training sessions are held outside as well. It's a nice change from more and more walls. Some of our shows are held here as well, and removable, collapsable wooden bleachers (also kept in the store room in the office) can be rolled out and set up.

DOG RUNS 1, 2, & 3
These are our smaller runs, but still well big enough for the dogs to romp and gallop and tackle each other to the ground. These, like all our outdoor areas, have manmade, natural-looking freshwater ponds for the animals to drink out of, and many trees for shade.

DOG RUN 4
This run is much like the previous ones. It's quite large, but considered to be our one and only medium dog run.

DOG RUN 5
Our biggest dog run. This one can cater to a massive pack of dogs (the most we've ever tried out is twenty, and there was still an incredible amount of space left. We assume it can easily hold forty dogs). This run is longer than both our indoor arena and kennel building combined, and about the same width as the latter. When necessary, this run also serves as a paddock for overflow livestock (rarely) or occasionally, some of the horses or cows from a few of the neighbouring stables and farms of Half Moon Bay. Usually, this area tends to be used for training herding dogs.

GRAZING LAND
Most of the year, this is where our sheep live. We have a herd of fifteen sheep, a combination of British and Friesian Milk Sheep -- who supply the lodge with much of our cheese (made in-house). The cheese made at the lodge is considered some of the best in the area, which is ironic, considering it started out as a side project -- the sheep's primary purpose is aiding in the dogs' herding lessons.

BREEDING KENNELS
This is where puppies are both made and born. These are much like our primary kennels, except larger, as they're meant to house a mother and all her puppies in the first few weeks of their lives. There are a total of four kennels with partially covered outdoor areas. Dogs who are in the process of breeding will be housed together in these kennels as well.

QUARANTINE/ISOLATION KENNEL
We only have one of these, and it's seldom used. Dogs with contagious illnesses are kept here, as well as dogs that need some sort of special rehabilitation or something of the sort. Usually, this is just used as overflow housing (when necessary)

GARDEN VIEW RESTAURANT
The Garden View Restaurant is one of the most popular on site. They serve pretty standard food: sandwiches, burgers, pasta, steaks, ribs, and the sort. For desert, we have a wonderful array of cakes and tarts available. For breakfast, we have a great many pastries and set breakfasts, including waffles and pancakes, bacon and eggs, and the best hash browns and corned beef in the Bay Area! But what really draws people to this restaurant is the fact that they can sit and enjoy a meal as they watch the dogs frolic and play around them. It's a great place to spend a lunch!

THANK YOU! And I agree with you one hundred per cent there -- maps are hard xD I must've started over half a dozen times with this one! lol! But at the end of the day, I must say I'm finally happy with it! lol!

My secret >.> <.< ... cheat! lol! That's what I did with the trees anyway xD drew out three different shapes and cloned them over and over haha. Lazy, but effective! Other than that -- I gots nothing xD Secret to finishing a map: don't kill yourself before it's done! x.x Easier said than done

You are most certainly welcome.
I have been able to do my island map, [link] but that's all. You should be happy with it. It's brilliant!

I think I killed myself long ago with maps. I know how I want it to look, it just doesn't look right on paper compared to my imagination. If you ever did commissions, I'll be first in line.

Your island map looks brilliant! It seems like quite a unique concept as well, to have all your kennels/stables set up together like that -- and it certainly gives a lot of space and variation in backdrop for your pictures! Must be a pain getting from one island to the next, though I suppose that all depends on how efficient the ferries are xD

Lol! I always have the exact same problem! It looks so good in my imagination, but paper's a different story. It's frustrating beyond beliefe. If I ever do open up map commissions, you'll be the first to know!

Oh, thanks so much. ^^ The big map was quite easy to do, it's getting the 'close-up' maps to fit into the island. I based the ferries off my city, travelling between the Shore and the City. It would take roughly 20/30 mins, unless weather can't make up its mind.

We need something where we can just plug out head in, and whatever is there turns up on the screen.
Ooo, thank you.

lol I have the hardest time with island maps! I can never get them to look natural! And that seems like a good system. Back at home our ferries run about the same time, which is quite convenient unless you JUST miss them T-T

We do! That would be so handy!

If you ever need the help, you know where I am.
I also did *Mishranna 's [link] , so if you want the help, it's there. ^^
I find the ferries good for when I've used them. The rest of Auckland's traffic is a pain in the bum and we aren't even a large city compared to those in America.

It looks brilliant! Wish I could design landforms x.x They ALL turn out looking like globs of pudding. It's depressing xD

I wish you good luck.
Altogether, I think I've got 5, two of which are just minor locations.
I'll lie dead with ya.
