Woah, what's wrong with Calgary Cosplay? I don't think I've ever run into anyone who's had that opinion of her before so you've got me very curious now.
But thanks for the compliments!

[link] here's actually a big journal with examples and stuff about why I really don't trust them anymore. It's a shame though because they seem to do really good work.

Oh they've been really unprofessional to me and my friends and have a very nasty record of stealing designs :/

I'm very sorry to hear about all that! Every single interaction with Kay has been nothing but a joy for me- she has been very kind, very professional, provided me with wonderful work quality, has quick turnarounds despite being a one-woman factory and flooded with orders daily, and a sweetheart in promoting much of my artwork over the 4 years I've known her.
I can see a lot of the issues from both sides since I can relate to bad business experiences as both a client and an artist running a business. Knowing Kay's work (I own 3 of her hats) your friend and the people they were talking with on her page should have gotten something satisfactory in terms of quality. Sometimes perfect photos in our galleries can be misleading because they don't reflect the products we send out because not every one of them can be just as perfect since they're all individually handmade. I have a high standard of quality for my products and I still get complaints for the tiniest little details being off because my products aren't absolutely perfect. I've personally had to bend over backwards to make sure my company/work gets the best reputation possible and newcomers get the chance to see my work in the best light possible- cutting deals, refunding orders, giving things away, etc. to keep people happy. I can't keep doing that forever, but I also can't afford having one bad review or experience left unattended to when it affects my business so strongly- because it can and it will go south if it goes unchecked. I feel like I'm constantly playing damage control. You lose sleep over it. Even my old stupid YouTube videos come back and haunt me in impactful ways. Sure I will always get new people with plenty of positivity and support for what I do, but my personal creed is that if I can go out of my way to change someone's opinion about me and my work then I will spend the time and effort to do so. I have worked miracles going out of my way to do this and people tend to really appreciate the personal interaction and nearly all of the times I've done this I've really been able to change things around for the better. It's just something very personal to me even when those people are complete strangers, it can still affect a lot.
But I have the HARDEST time facing an unhappy client. It is so draining, so painful to go through the process. I would even to hide or pretend I didn't see people's comments when they had an issue with a commission. Dealing with people sucks, especially when they're mad at or confronting you and you are forced to defend yourself, but it's part of the business and you've got to deal with it somehow. I will admit I have done some awful and terribly unprofessional things to my clients and I am ashamed of them. All I want to do is sit down and make pretty things and for everyone to be happy. "Tough" says life. Communication is key to good business, I wasn't cut out for it for the longest time because of my behavior and attitude. I still struggle with it almost daily. It would not surprise me in the least to know that Kay was going through much of the same problems and it is something she seems to struggle dealing with properly on a few occasions.
I keep my eye on a lot of things good and bad around the net- if it involves me then it's my business to know! And if I have some kind of control over a situation, I will step in and make use of whatever tools I have at my disposal. I would suspect that's what I'm seeing exercised here in relation to your experience with CC. She may run a business but she also has an artist's mindset, we don't always have a good handle on how to handle things properly. I don't agree with blocking personally unless they did something to truly and severely deserve it... but she may feel that it was the appropriate response. It's so much easier to ignore and keep things out of sight, out of mind. If her way of dealing with things she doesn't want displayed on her page then that's her choice, its her page to do with what she wants. However I strongly agree that she should have handled the situation much differently than she did. She should have definitely made more effort to remedy the situation with your friend's experience, because you can see what ended up happening that made it so much worse for her. Came back to bite her. Her response to trying to make amends was some personal communication, which ultimately did not work for you. That will be her loss. All you can hope for is that she will learn from this experience and use it better herself and her business.
Thank you for sharing that story with me though! I learned a lot from it ^^

I was wondering, ,if I were to provide a picture of my wolf character Drift, my dragon character Kodon, or my new hybrid character Shade, do you think it would be possible for you to make a wavy or something that I can use for an icon?
Like you have with the German Shepherd and the sunglasses thing you have, it's only if you find the time for it, its just that it seems everybody has some sort of icon thing for their profiles, I feel left out and my computer sucks.

At the moment I'm not doing icon commissions, but there are tons of people out there who do! You can try looking around, posting to groups or the DA forums.

Thanks, I will keep looking, my computer still sucks, so I'm saving for a laptop to make posting pictures easier so you can still see my characters, I will not be attending A-kon but I will be attending either Rocky Mountain Fur Con or Naun Desu Kan or however you pronounce it. Possibly even both if I get enough money.

If you're curious, Nan Desu Kan is pronounced like "non deh-su con"
Cool, perhaps I'll see you there

Awesome, I'll be wearing my XV-mon costume, I'm a fan of Digimon just as much as I am Pokemon. Thanks for the pronounciation, its a hard name to say.
