Stunning work, your monochrome images are always so beautifully striking. 
The textures in the fur here are incredibly detailed yet still somehow have this rough look to them that is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the way they are outlined in white to make them stand out against the black background. The little dots of white also add to the rough feel, as well as looking like flecks of light which really sets the piece off. Ha, I even like how you've drawn the whiskers. :'D
The stylised anatomy and pose is gorgeous too, and I love the use of symmetry here.
As for an alternative version, I'd like to see that too, because there can never be too much of your awesome art, and I'm sure this would look great no matter what you did with it!
