A little sketch featuring Weed, the main character of Ginga Densetsu Weed anime and manga series by Yoshiro Takahashi.Personally, I don't think Weed is an interesting character. He's just too heroic, moralistic and great leader by nature with little inner conflicts, like some kind of a blue super dog. Still, in a weirdest way, he's quite a lovable derp and has a certain kitsch-value. I can see why he is so liked yet so hated by the audience.

Perosnally,
I think everyone hates him because of Jerome.
I mean, Weed was the leader, and, come on, Jerome should respect his decision of not killing anybody. He was just punished for obeying the orders. Which is very tender despite the brutality in the GNG series (which are even more loved by the audience than GNG).
Just personal opinion,

This drawing of Weed is really cool, and i agree with you once again. Weed has little to no conflict going on internally which is bad because even GB had something going on with him. Weed, to me, wasn't that developed and was just made to be a pure soul that no one can touch. he's also a bit of a hypocrite, it's okay to kill Kaibutsu but not two guys who tried a few times to kill you? Weed's pureness is needed sometimes in an otherwise gritty show but to have it showed all the time can be grating on the nerves really fast. Still great drawing.

Excellent job with the perspective on this! By making the paws on the hind quarters smaller you give the feeling that he's leaping!

Etenkin vihaksi pisti ku alko vänkää Gin:iä vastaa, pikku kakara ansaitsee isän kädestä. Mutta ei voi sanoa että hahmo on huonosti tehty kun se näin voimakkaita tunteita saa aikaan aika monessa ihmisessä? I'm alright with one super good paragon of goodness in a show. Especially when there are so many characters. I get that I'm supposed to aspire to be that, not relate to it directly.
It helps that the guy he's up against is practically evil incarnate, so it makes sense when looking at it as a ronin samurai kind of story.

And I agree with your feelings towards him as a character, I too feel the same way- He's just too great at everything to be likeable, yet at the same time I do like him...its a weird emotion really XD To like yet dislike something all at the same time.

I think there was a lot cut out of the anime thats in the manga that might make Weed more interesting - but that's just a guess, I havent been able to read the manga. The funny part is, he's suppose to be silver, not blue... his father, Gin, was a silver brindle... s'why he was called "Silver Fang: The Shooting Star Gin". The coloring went really wonky, I guess.
