Description
Krasny Les, Karlovarsky Kraj (Karlovy Vary Region), Czech Republic, Horni Hrad - built in XIII c. in order to protect local mines and royal tracts. After the fire in 1600 rebuilt in Renaissance style. In XIX c., after yet another change of owner, rebuilt in Romantic style. During World War II used by Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth). After the war castle was nationalized and served, firstly, for accommodation of uranium miners, then for a youth organization. In 1958 devastated castle was abandoned and due to the vandalism and the weather conditions quickly fell into ruin. Since 2000 castle is in private hands, and its new owner started slow process of its reconstruction.
