What Warriors Super Edition did I read yesterday? Three guesses.

...Mmhmm, it was the Erins' newest, Tallstar's Revenge. To be honest, I hadn't planned to read any of the newer Warriors publications, but I happened to be on the official forums around the time the browse inside for TR was released, and I, er, heard some really very interesting things about a certain relationship in the book and long story short ALL OF THEM WERE TRUE.

So here you have them, Tallstar and Jake. Firestar's two daddies.

I love how about five times in the book the cop-out "...best friend! " was used while these two were telling each other how they felt about each other. Everyone who knows me can tell you that I'm very averse to reading subtext into friendships where there honestly is none - example, Firestar and Graystripe, never saw anything there and don't believe I ever will, nor do I want to - but these guys were written exactly like a couple, to a trollish extent. Brushing pelts, breakup scene written like - well, an actual heart-rending breakup between two people/cats who love each other but have to go separate ways, and how they slowly progressed to sharing a nest at one point. It was really cute. And now we also have this picture.

So apparently Jake gets all the girls, and all the guys. Good for you, dude. (But wow, he should become Memetic Attractive Guy of the fandom. Especially if we count Pinestar among the seduced. And Jake is just a chubby ginger. Aww. I guess it's Cuteness Power there. Oh, and thanks for telling us about his ~silky fur~, Tallstar, that might have something to do with it too. Cute silky fur. N'aww.)

Oh, and Tallstar's Revenge was legitimately a good book, too. Much more solid than many of the more recent Warriors books have been - at least, it seemed so to me. I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's also a great trip back to the old territories. And the tunnelers. Ooh. WindClan is so cool.

The title is bad because this is an emotional doodle, pretty much. But isn't it so nice-looking? //proud of self

...C'mon, you guys, he had so much more relationship subtext with Jake than with, say, Reena...whom he had practically no sparks with; the romantic attraction seemed written to be totally one-sided on her part. I honestly think the Erins were intentionally trolling a bit with this one.
