Poppies are so lovely...seeing them (or a photo substitute) reminds me instantly of summer.
Great job on the photo(s)...both are great and I can't pick one over the other!

Thank you! Yes, I love the freshness poppies bring to a scene.

I love the colour in the poppy. But if i'm honest, this isn't your best shot... It just needs a little bit more structure.

Thanks for your honesty. I was thinking it may be a bit too "busy" too, if that's what you meant. I also have a more zoomed in shot of this, that I am starting to like more, haha.

i'm not sure if busy is the right word. I needs a stronger focul point. I kinda see it as just a shot of some flowers, it needs something to catch your eye.

Thank you. How is it a Van Gogh style?

ummm well, colours for one, composition a bit too, but also the fact that nothing is in extreme focus like here [link]

either way its a compliment was the focus on the red flowers ?

Oh, I get it. Yeah, it is. Haha, how could the focus not be on something as demanding as red poppies?

Oh great Pic absolutely pretty.

P.S. I'm going to give you a run for you money with flower shots now, I finally got a camera that isn't a point and shoot

haha yeah, the olympus, it has a Super Macro setting lol, allows you to focus in from 1 cm away my sony cybershot can't focus at that distance :S My class doesn't have an SLR unfortunately. Have fun, can't wait to see some more pics of yours

Thanks. Haha, oh dear! The Olympus one? Except I mostly use my little point and shoot in flowers... the lens is weird and really good at getting close on macro mode... much more close than other camera's macro modes. I think it is like a factory mistake or somthing haha. Well, have fun with your new camera! I took this shot with my yearbook class SLR. I really want to get an SLR soon, as soon as I have the money I will have one.

Very simple & extrodinarily beautiful.

The basic contrast of red & green are lovely. A touch of orange thrown in there is just as nice. I've rather envious you've actually found some poppies, and in such a gorgeous environment as well. Nicely shot
