The Lowdown On The Download

Oh whatever, like you’re honestly hurt that I lied. Yes my friends, I had a few ideas left over, and I liked one of my art buddies’ suggestions that I make a “season two” one day. Unlike the beloved cartoon season two—which was an animator’s night terror of over seventy episodes—this card season is only a three set deal. And I fulfilled my prophecy of finishing these cards past the Valentine’s Day deadline! And since these are season two, they get the special treatment of being GOLD FOIL CARDS!
…What that means is, the previous set utterly destroyed the markers I used for the valentine color scheme. But this sure came out snazzy.

REFLECTOR: I was surprised to learn there was a Reflector toy back in the day. It’s understandable though, seeing it was one of those rare mail-away toys, and of course I was too young to realize the buttload of money those things would be worth. You can check Ebay, the blue one is Spyglass, the purple guy is Viewfinder, and the red dude is Spectro. Together they form an autistic’s idea of what a camera looks like, but they get kudos for having sparkly glitter paint.

GEARS: Poor Gears. Poor, malshaped, Gears. I’m not sure if I rendered it well, but I hope you can tell he’s giving you the one-finger salute. You won’t win any hearts that way, Gears!

He was one cranky little autobot-hole. His feature episode “Changing Gears” was actually quite funny. Megatron jacks around inside Gears’ system, causing him to become sickingly sweet. His new disposition causes him to want to help the Decipticons, all the while giving colorful commentary of “I should really hate your rotten guts…but I just can’t help but like ya!”

Just to prove Gear’s misfortune, he almost didn’t make it into this set. I had originally planned to do up Wreck-Gar. He would have said “Does my ass make my ass look fat?” while holding up a torso. The Junkions could have been a cool group to have delved into; the ability to interchange who was the motorcycle and who was the driver, along with interchanging bodyparts…but whatever. I think this one is infinitely more clever.

OMEGA SUPREME: He’ll tear that ass up. I’m not exaggerating. I tried to draw him at an angle to convey the victim’s POV, or point-of-violation. Hmm? Oh, view. Point-of-view.

Oddly, Omega was the only Transformer capable of destroying the illusion of believability in my tot mind. Whenever he transformed into that bastard child of a rocket ship and Disney monorail, the pieces would come careening onscreen from ludicrous locations.
God casting it down from heaven.
Materializing thru a wall.
They didn’t even care. And if I recall, when he transformed into Cosmonaut homunculus mode, the pieces that didn’t fit would just flutter away offscreen. But despite my griping, in the episode “The God Gambit” Omega has a line that had me laughing for longer than necessary, and won me over. I ain’t gonna spoil it, watch the episode, you’ll know the line when you hear him Speak-And-Spell it.

If my packrat vault of useless memories serves me right, Omega Supreme, Sky Lynx, and Shockwave were the few toys brought into the Transformerdom from third party toy manufacturers; meaning they weren’t part of the Takara Diaclone/Microman series.

I have yet to receive negative feedback from these goofy sets. Remember, it was your comments, faves, and marriage proposals that made me realize these were appreciated. Keep tuned to the same Cappitron time, same Cappitron channel, for a couple more!
