The Lowdown On The Download
====================
There are two possible explanations on why you’re seeing this text. Either it’s time for more Transformers valentine cards, or my ghost has hijacked into your computer to warn you that my killer is actually YOUR FATHER!! So here we…what? Your father’s dead? I dunno…then we’ll have an epic ghost death battle, and since we’re already dead the person who dies gets reborn or something…I dunno. Thanks for killing my joke with your dead dad!

But here we have what I like to call the Transformers’ Fall-Stars. I wanted to do a card set by picking the three characters that seem to be hated by the fandom. The only person missing from the list is probably Wheelie, so for your amusement here’s what his card would likely read:

Wheelie not gay!
This is the pits.
I’m gonna go slit my wrists!

Personally, the character that annoyed the bejeezus out of me was Warpath. He was that tank that yelled out his own sound effects. “I want to zooma zoom zoom and a boom boom!” I think what bothered me was the fact that Warpath spoke with exactly the same effort as if someone had asked him if we wanted Quizno’s, and replied “Oh yeah, that sounds great!” If only he were made to sound angry when yelling those lines; imagine someone charging towards you and screaming the sound effects your body will make once he gets a hold of you. He could have been our Brock Samson.

Unicron: I think I’m one of the few people who actually liked Unicron. Why? Thirty-foot doom mustache. Why would robots need mustaches? I think the more appropriate question is why it took a cartoon to point out that scientists needed to study the implications of mustachioids. Pretty much the third season had a mustache epidemic with every other character sporting fashionable faceguards.

Also! The one thing you could count on was that Autobots had blue eyes and Decepticons had red eyes. So whenever they introduced a mystery character, you could pretty much deduce which side he would end up on due to hue. The only exceptions I can recall would be Thrust (yellow) and Unicron (green). I believe those are the exceptions, but prove me wrong. Anyway, to spruce up a character nobody really likes, I treated his card to a special space theme.

Rodimus: I tolerated Hotrod. But the Matrix is apparently full of estrogen and scenes from coming-of-age movies, and Rodimus singlehandedly created the EMO movement thru his robotic tears. His tears bring rust, rust brings pain, and pain brings on more tears. He wants that as his epitaph. If that’s the case with the Matrix, then that shows that Prime was a robot made out of Cybertronian testicles to be a leader with that whine-o device in his chest. Rodimus would go on to incorrectly inspire Japan’s anime and videogame industry to think that angst and self loathing equals interesting lead character development.
IT DOES NOT.

I think all of us received the vibe that every Autobot quietly hated Rodimus. If he weren’t the leader, no one would invite him to parties or meetings. So just for him, he gets the specially formatted my-parents-don’t-understand-mee! LiveJournal deco’d card. Feel free to play your favorite Fallout Boy song in the background while viewing it.

Spike: effing Spike. I did a comic about why he’s so useless [link] I’m pretty sure that Spike wears his hardhat in episodes where he’s not at work…or maybe his fulltime job was to get in the way of the Autobots. A few people also had the sensation that Spike wore it often. Perhaps we merely imagined it, if your childish brains hadn’t projected that protection then our instincts would have kicked in and children all over the world would have punched their screens to get to the slush inside that curly head. Also, didn’t Spike wear garish yellow galoshes? This dink was the person the Autobots trusted to get intel on earth? Hope it didn’t include learning fashion trends.

I was a little worried about drawing Spike in my style and not being recognizable. But when I saw his reference sheet, with his punchable and clueless disposition, I figured I’d draw him in his perfectly dopey style. He totally doesn’t understand his phrasing the way you’re understanding it. I like that this looks like those old war propaganda posters.

Unicron: The Humper Of Worlds, and Spike’s unintentional PSA hump, uh, bump the rating to mature. I expect this to be the least popular set, but I think that might have been the point. It’s good to know that I AM capable of creating puns out of the most awful of source material!
