Is she pretty like you?"

Aw, Natsuki. A pipe is different. A cigar makes you look like a corporate piece of shite. A pipe makes you look quite classy, which is something Kuga naturally has in spades to begin with.
Not only that, but it's mostly the mass-produced tobacco used in mass-produced cigarettes that is especially bad for someone. Using "organic" tobacco, while still carrying the negatives to a lesser degree, actually provides some health benefits. It's sort of like alcohol: It was practically demonized by the people at first before they realized about a glass and a half of wine promotes longevity and alcohol can also prevent coronary heart disease. So both are lesser of two other evils really.

If you're worried about second-hand smoke, that I could understand. But, I don't think seeing Kuga smoke will encourage her any. Even as a child, she would be impressionable, but once she's older she'll be smart enough to make the choice herself. Plus, it's not like Slayer, I-I mean Kuga, is giving her the pipe and a match and saying, "Go Ahead, smoke your damn lungs out."

Pipes are classy, I should know I smoke a tobacco pipe on Sunday mornings with a nice cup of coffee, but even with a way around it that wasn't cool Kuga. Though Kuga does look pimp with a tobacco pipe.
