The Mad Scientist Influenced By Lewis Carroll’s Creations....

The Mad Hatter

Real Name: Jervis Tetch.

Jervis Tetch was once a simple scientist working in Wayne Enterprises. He fancied brain wave experiments that he usually tested on smaller creatures. (Usually that of mice & gerbils.) He had great success in making them do whatever he made them do. He achieved his trick through what he calls “The Mad Hatter.” A top hat, from which he modeled after the one worn by the Lewis Carroll character from “Alice In Wonderland.”, that through pressing on the side of the brim, would cause a pair of cat-like eyes to sprout out & flash like how a camera takes photos, causing a temporary hypnosis of sorts. Eventually he would find a way to make it last longer than a minute. With luck, it could go on for approximately 2 hours, give or take. He’s also grown a liking to his co-worker and sometimes assistant, Alice, who reminds him of the namesake character from the same book. He’s often admired her for her kindness & charity. However Jervis’ supervisor Billy Harts was also interested in her, in fact, Billy was Alice's boyfriend (much to the disappointment of Jervis) and often was quite overbearing towards Tetch whenever he tried to talk to Alice while he was around. In private, he would often akin him to The Queen Of Hearts. However, when news reached him that their relationship had sunk, he made it his top priority to impress her (With a little help from both his hat and his mind control chips). He dressed up as The Mad Hatter, set off with a bunch of flowers ready to make his move. His attempts at impressing Alice involved him Hypnotizing People In Certain Areas Of Gotham To Certain Tasks For His Romantic Preparations for a Night to treat Alice To What He Affectionately Dubbed “Gotham In Wonderland.” In Which All The Citizens Of Gotham Appear To Have Dressed Up As Different “Wonderland” Based Characters For A Whimsical Night Like No Other. He Even Prepared A Dress For Alice Closely Modeled After The Character Whose Name She Shares. As well as him brainwashing people to pretend that he was a "man about town" or "a celebrity". Alice was charmed by Jervis, but misinterpreted his gesture as one to cheer her up. Unfortunately, Alice mended her relationship and got back together with her boyfriend Billy (much to Tetch's disapproval) as they were now engaged. Jervis, now calling himself "The Mad Hatter", had brainwashed Alice and kidnapped her. Batman and Robin would soon be on his trail where they would encounter The Mad Hatter at an amusement park with an Alice in Wonderland section and a Wonderland Maze Garden, where he has brainwashed people to dress up as Wonderland characters and deal with The Dynamic Duo. Luckily, Batman and Robin managed to release them from Jervis’ control and they confronted the Mad Hatter, who fought them while armed with an axe. But he is easily dealt with upon Batman using a batarang at the string of an ornament model of the Jabberwock. At one point, he lamented on controlling Alice but viewed it as necessity to keep her even though he admits that he got carried away. Unfortunately, Alice is freed from the Hatter's spell and rejoins her sweetheart. The Mad Hatter, trapped under the Jabberwocky model, quotes Alice in Wonderland with all the sadness of the Mock Turtle.
