Where do rat tails come from? Like what genius place did the rat tail originate from? (I have a brother who had one for several years in his childhood, due to his idolization of our mother's boyfriend. He was a bogan, the Australian equivalent of a redneck).

Dude, he was tall and skinny AND balding already at that age, and had this fluffy black hair and skinny long rat tail. I still have pictures. Best thing ever.
Communistic Czechoslovakia. All cats were just the typical house cat type, but his friend's parents were in the commie party and were rich, cat was imported from the former NDR. I'd be dumbfounded too, 'cause I mean, look at it. It doesn't look like a cat. More like Ewok or something.

Like a strange genetic hybrid of a cat, a troll, and a cranky old man... With the cat part added as an afterthought.
There's an 'ugliness hump' I have to get over before I can think of such animals as pets... For some, it is species-wide, like snakes and iguanas and other reptiles (they may actually be beautiful, but never, ever cute, cuddly, and lovable)... Dogs and cats get a lot more leeway.
Unfortunately for Persians, it looks as though they got caught between the front tire and the ugly hump. Still mammals, though, so that's a win for them!

Oh the race guidelines prescribe a flat nose, but cats don't have naturally stump noses. I mean that the breeding guidelines are beyond stupid. A nose pushed into the face is a recipe for many many healthproblems.
