Description
The good things about parings with your own characters:
-you get to do whatever you want with them
-you can break them apart when you feel like it
-you can daydream about them all day, and they can be doing whatever you want and you dont need any ones permission
-you can decide if is official, again without any ones permission
-they can have babies if you want them too and you can design the babies however you want
-you can draw them however you want

The bad things:
-you can get bored with the paring after a while, and you don't have any ideas
-everything is planned out before hand, so there's nothing particularly exciting
-if you pare your character with another character of yours, that means they are taken and can't be shipped with someone elses character, unless they break up at some point or if your one of those people who pares them with a bunch of other characters, which i find confusing and a tad bit depressing, because romance can shape a characters personality, and if you have different ships then they will be shaped differently, which is even more confusing so once someone or i pare someone with my character and the other person approves then its official and there's no turning back.
-you have to go through the pain of making the child (if they will have one) look like both parents
-you can't really share the joy of the paring with another person. people don't really acre about parings unless its theirs

The good things about having parings with your character and someone elses:
-its fun, and how they meet can be planned or just a plain accident
-you can rp with the paring and it usually never gets boring
-you usually become close friends with the person who made the o.c and get to know other peoples characters better
-you both have the joy of making the baby, and it never comes out as you thought it would be
-two minds create better ideas
-usually both people draw the parings for the other person which usually makes my day
-we have something to talk about

Bad things:
-if you want something to happen, then you need to ask the other persons permission
-usually, its hard to decide who draws the baby
-sharing the baby in rps is kinda hard too
-later you might find out that the person is paring their o.c. with a bunch of othe ro.c.s which is kinda like breaking their heart
-if you get into a fight and aren't friends anymore, then the paring kinda breaks up too

thats all i could think of, please tell me if you got anything else, and tell me which you prefer the most. i personally like both, its hard for me to choose one type of paring. because romance with my characters is a big part of my life, and its what makes me the happiest right now, so i can daydream about a ship and completely forget my problems for some time. It just feels great, yah know? The joy of making your characters have loves and make them have families, its a big part of all my o.c.s, and i think romance, even though i probably will never experience it, can be sometimes a wonderful thing.
