OK,the original mould for the kit was a USAF KC-135,made in 1956....the industry has come a ways since then! it was actually 1/143 scale...close enough.

not exactly State-Of-The-Art,but still buildable,with a bit of work.

i,m trying to think how many times Revell has issued that same basic moulding over the years....so many different boxings,both military and commercial! add an extra sprue with a saucer,and it,s an AWACS...

they,ve certainly got a lot of mileage out of that 1956 mould.....

Monogram had a 1/90{"box-scale"} DC-3/C-47 mould that was reissued "9-ways-to-Sunday" too.....

i suppose they didn,t export that much. Revell has a larger international sales/distribution network.

also,most of Monogram,s aircraft subjects were 1/48,and British modellers usually preferred 1/72.

that was the scale they were used to...it started with FROG Penguin kits back in 1939.{the world,s first plastic models!}

I think I heard of FROG - Didnt they make a VC10 with working lights?
Speaking of models - Where me and also my family all grew up in London, nearby there was a small airfield (closed before I was born) called Heston. They had a model makers there too. The name escapes me now though.
