Some things with this manipulation were rather difficult for me, like accurately "blending" --I guess you could say-- the model's legs/feet. As a Photoshop newbie, I'd appreciate suggestions and tips for improvements!

Is this ur first manipulation ? if it did then great job! here some tip for ya: when u want to cut some thing out of the stock, zoom in about 400% then use Lasso tool (shorcut L) to select the object, it take alot of time but will give u greater result than normal pentool cut, and work more on color and effect to make it look more dynamic

I hope my tip be helpful for ya
keep up the good work

Heheh, well, it's *one* of my firsts . . . I'm still experimenting with photoshop!

And yes, I do appreciate the tip. I would have never thought of doing something like that, especially up so close! Thanks!

For a newbie i think you're doing pretty well
a tip ive learnt for blending is that the colour burn/dodge tool is invaluable. use it to create shadows etc so that it actually looks like the person is standing there.
dont take the word 'blend' too litterally, id avoid using blur or smugde tools for it, and if you do then use them very sparingly.

Thank you! That helps a lot, as I haven't really experienced too much with those tools.

Thanks for the favorite, too!

Obviously I am aware of that issue, but a comment like that in no way allows me to fix the problem. Surely you would know.
