OIf bruised, purple skies.
Pounding Sneakers
on cool blades of green.
Blue-green eyes are
wide with excitement,
like a child’s.
Messy, black mop
flies through the air.
Red-ruby string slips
between skeleton fingers.
Strips of garnet
hold onto a lifeline,
tied back to you.
Glance back
to the main event,
D-A-V-E,
Swimming through stars.
You grin, you stumble.
Skidding across
a sea of emerald.
Coming to a screeching halt,
with blank stares
and our kite flutters down.
Sides are splitting
and we’re to the point of tears,
on this fine midnight flight.
