Total Lunar Eclipse 16/06/2011.
Single exposure taken with a Canon EOS 60D using a 50mm F/1.8 lens, piggyback mounted to a NEQ6 Pro Goto Telescope Mount.
Reprocess- I actually did this repro about 3 months ago for an entry into a calendar competition but then forgot to post it online until now. Very happy with how this looks now. I was already very proud of my original of this and it remains one of my favorite shots, but I thought I could do a lot more with the original data now that I have a bit more experience with astrophotography image processing . I hope you like this new version.

The three straight lines at various angles in the left half of the frame are satellites moving over the course of the exposure.

Pictures like this remind how small we are...the universe is estimated to be 78 billion light years across and you have captured a tiny speck of it and it has to be the most beautiful.

I have that same lens for my T2i and I just got a piggyback mount for my Celestron. I want to come close to this (although I doubt I will). How many and how long where your exposures?

actually I was wrong about the exposure time. I just had a look at the original (which still has the exif data) and it was a 110 second exposure.

No worries I always seem to play around with the iso and times anyway, just amazed you go this out of a 50mm I have not tried that yet.

Single three minute exposure. Stop the lens down to F/4 or so and as long as your polar alignment is ok then there is no reason why you can't do the same. It's a great lens for the price.
