Hank is finished!!! My commissioned horse portrait in oils on 11×14 canvas is complete. Its been fun and also a learning experience as I have not painted many animals before. My client absolutely loves it. (Thats always a plus...lol)Related content

Absolutely a beautiful piece - you really should be proud of it. The only issue I have, and it is really not an issue at all, is there are spots of the background that look a bit rushed or could have used some more detail (top right of the horse for instance).
That said, the horse itself is amazing and the whole piece very well done. Particularly the eyes came out so full of life, and you can really see each individual hair on his face and nose. The wood in front is also nicely done.

Thank You for the kind words and critique. The background was intentionally done a little rough/out of focus as to bring contrast & focus on the horse, but I see where you are coming from.

Makes total sense! I think I mentioned it could have been on purpose because of the details of the horse, so then I would just disregard my point it's really great
