good idea. having a woman on the ship could counter those outrageously gay overtones that Peter Pan kinda has...

Lovelypicture! ^^ I can't believe you have a folder on Neverland AND Pirates! Yeah, I'm a dork when it comes to that 'Return to Neverland' movie, but you really did an excellent job on Hook. *sigh* I wish Disney did a better job with him. The original Hook from the book, as well as that younger version from Capt. Hook: Taes of a Notorious Youth really portrayed his personality better, I think.

Amen to that! Although, the more I watch the Disney version...I still don't think of the Disney Hook as THE Captain Hook, but I think Frank Thomas (lead animator on Hook, if memory serves) was going in the right direction...
Tales of a Notorious Youth, I swear, turned me into a freaking Hook fangirl, lol. I'd always loved him before, but that kind of sealed the deal.
Read Peter Pan in Scarlet last week...have you read that? If so...what did you think?

Oh, wow! You read it too?! Same here, that book turned me into a Hook Fanatic. XD Now it's troubling me though, because books like Disney's Quest for the Egg (Disney Fairies) say he has purple blood instead of yellow, and I just want to yell at them! Crazy, I know. But you know what I mean if you read that book and liked it as much as I did. At least J. V. Hart had a background to it.
The animator? I agree. It's just a shame they had to flip it so his hook was on the wrong side. I've always wanted to draw/see younger Capt. Jas. and Peter Pan interact...Peter would have no opposition to him then. XD I think they might actually get along! I'm a fan of both, so I can't choose!
Yeah, I have both Peter Pan in Scarlet and Capt Jas books and keep them side by side. When I put them together, it's so cool, because it reminds me of the sun & moon. XD A different take on both characters. Still, I have to admit I like Disney's version of Peter Pan better, at least in appearence. I really admire how Peter Pan in Scarlet was done, though! The story was amazing, and it really seemed to fit with the original book in my opinion. Plus, after reading Capt. Hook, that outlook of Hook as a human being instead of a villian was very nicely portrayed. What did you think of it?
Those authors of Peter and the Starcatchers, though...if I ever find them I'm going to give them a good talking to...I don't know if you've read that, and it's a good story on its own, but it seems to me those people havenm't read the original book Peter Pan or even watched the Disney movie and paid much attention. XP

Blah on Disney Faerie books...I suppose there's not much Barrie-canon to support the yellow blood move, but even the Disney movie didn't get his eyes right. In close ups, when they have an iris at all, they're an olive-brown. Barrie was .quite. specific on eye colour...they could've payed THAT much attention.
JV Hart made it onto my list of top favourite authors with that one book...quite a feat for my choosy reading style, haha.
I think they may have also switched it because Hans Conreid was right-handed, in the reference footage they shot...but I'm not 100% sure on that, I can't quite remember. I can totally see Jas. eventually just getting totally exasperated with a Barrie-Peter, but I think he and the Disney-Peter might get along!
I actually really enjoyed Peter Pan in Scarlet. I don't think I'll ever view it as canon, so to speak, but the writing style was wonderful and the story engaging. It really did seem to fit with Barrie's eccentric little style, which I love. I think Hook, as a character, is one of literature's unsung heroes. So many facets, so little time! XD
Peter and the Starcatchers...oooh, Dave Barry! How much I love you as a writer, but not a writer of Peter Pan stories! Augh. I love that man's humor to death...but cannot STAND that series. I read it, and its...I mean its good enough writing and all, but it's just not .Neverland. Something's missing, wrong. I agree with your opinion on it.
Although it was rather amusing that I could pick out which parts were CLEARLY Dave Barry's doing, not the other author's...can't remember his name at the moment...
Now, the 2003 movie with Jason Isaacs...I fell in love, personally, with the way that movie was done. Seen it?

XD Am I spamming your comments with all this talk? I'm sorry, I can stop if you want at any time. Or move to notes or something.
True, very true. I was upset about that too. Some pictures though...I guess I can fool myself they're...a sort of dark violetish blue? And Forget-me-not isn't the blue everyone imagines it to be, neh? XD I don't know, I'm porbably giving Disney too much credit. XD But that seems to be, sadly, the design most people associate with Captain Hook.
I quite agree. XD Same thing here. Very picky with books. That and the Bartimaeus trilogy I love. Like a dark amoral side to the characters. I love that quote on the back, "Even a villian can have a hero's heart."
I know what you mean. I'd get exasperated with Barrie-Peter myself. To be honest, it's the very disnified version of Peter in Return to Neverland that I loved. He just had so much more depth to his character there, but he wasn't the selfish, forgetful Peter Barrie made. They still kind of kept his arrogance and carefree attitude, though, and that's what I love! Plus you never really got to see Peter sad in the other movie, or angry at anyone other than Hook. Unless tantrum-throwing when Wendy wanted to leave counts. XD
Same here! Good, but not quite canon. I hate to say it, but I felt the author advertised a bit too much on how she won the contest rather than her story. But it was really good, and the writing style was excellent. I love the little things, like how pretending with wearing their clothes makes you into different people. It's like with Barrie's concept of Peter's imagining food. Very creative. And yes, I know! Hook should have more books of his own. But I DID find him in a book of literature's morst notable villians. ^^
ROFL. Same here. So many things...He describes them almost like Disney, but not quite. Smee's striped bottoms, but Peter's got blue eyes all of a sudden? And Who says all magic comes from one source? It bothers me. Also...they imply George (Wendy's father) is in love with Molly, but isn't Wendy's mother Mary? *sigh* Nice story, wrong prequel. And I can't believe they thought it would be something to go on just because their daughter asked one of them about Peter. I just feel like it's a stolen idea. Like the concept was taken from the mind of a child and messed up. Heh, that's interesting. I'm not too familiar with Dave Barry's other works, but from their titles at the front of the book...they seemed a little too...mature for my reading level. At least his taste in subjects to write about. Not my sort of books.
Heck yeah! He's my favorite Captain Hook on screen ever. XD I LOVE how he did him! He seems to fit J. V. Hart's as well as Barrie's perfectly! What wih his blue theme and sad state of mind...

This looks great, very nice job! And you're right, I can see Hook having some sort of Shego-like fem around. That would be rather amusing, haha.
