cold press is rougher and porous, hot press is smoother. you have to be more precise with hot press because you can't scrub anything off. which i prefer, because with cold press i accidentally kept erasing things i didnt' want to

Oh, those. I didn't know they had names.
I use hot press (I think), but i'm pretty sure at least one of my sketchbooks was cold press.
