Everyone's opinion on what art is is different. I just so happen to find photography with intense emotions art. I think this is more expressive then a painting of flowers..

why when it becomes 2 girls does it become an issue of girls being drunk seeking attention. I see plenty of man kissing girl pictures people obsess over and post on their wall as true love. When did society belittle the art of a kiss (no matter the sex) to being just an act of drunkenness or attention. These girls have more passion in their kiss then most opposite sex couples that exist in the world today.

To the people who attacked this image - you are fucking fools. You say you hate this, it shouldn't be here on DA, yet you give this image so much oxygen by expressing your hatred for it. Why? Why not just pass over it and move on to something more to your liking. This is what I can't understand about people who feel the need to comment on images in this way. This image isn't hurting you. Fuck off and move on.
Is it a great photo? Probably not (from a technical perspective). So what? It's presence on DA isn't hurting anyone. It's not as if this person is putting herself out to the world as a professional photographer for hire (and believe me, I've seen a lot worse from people are doing just that).
That's not to say I'm not concerned about poor photography. I am. But self-righteousness pisses me off more. And I speak as someone who, shall we say, didn't pay attention to the technical niceties of photography as I do now (although some would dispute that I pay sufficient attention now, which says a lot in itself). I used to get comments like the ones on this photo. So I tried to improve. And what happened? Very little difference from the type of people that have commented negatively on this image. If you make the effort to improve, where are they now? Gone. Gone to bitch about someone else's work. Because contrary to what they claim, it isn't about whether your work is technically or artistically correct in their eyes, but whether you're part of their clique. If you're an outsider, you'll be shat upon. It doesn't matter in the end how good or bad you are. That's just an excuse.
So wherever you are now, keep on doing what you choose. And good luck to you. Β

A few more thoughts on this. Let's suppose for a moment this person had done this image as a "proper" photo. You know, with a DSLR, proper lighting, composition and shit. What would have happened then? The people who think photos of girls kissing are hot would be interested in it irregardless. The people that think girls kissing is objectionable would have still attacked it (and probably found some obscure minor technical flaw to dubiously back up their views). But what would have most of the haters have done? If one of their inner circle had photographed this theme, they'd all over it fawning and saying what a wonderful image it is. If the exact same image was done (in a more "proper" way) by someone outside to them, they would have said "hmm, nice photo" and not given it a second glance, and moved on. Unless this person was a well-known "name" already with a massive following, there is no way they could have got over 33,000 views and over 600 favourites on this image, if they'd done it "properly". That's the problem.
