Description Tristesse is a rapid pen and ink drawing washed with a light coloured tea wash in several layers, trying to catch the emotion of sadness.

technique: wonderful, fantastic, virtuoso, baroque .. very, very nice
but the subject-matter is ...for me a totally different matter ... well, let's put it this way:

is it so difficult to be optimistic ?
It's  so easy to be pathetic, sad and the like ...

thanks, but sadness is an emotion we all experience, and that's what I wanted to capture, a false smile is much more ugly than a true depiction of sadness.

You definitely did more than that! The emotion is so lifelike. I just stared at this for several minutes and I can't stop staring! Your method of drawing really creates a connection between the viewer and the subject. I especially love that I cannot distinguish whether the subject is a boy or a girl. The androgyny really allows for a wider perspective on sadness as a whole and enables anyone to relate. I want to wipe away his/her suffering! Great, great, great job!
