no I build up layers of the work bit by bit - if you look around at objects - they don't really have an outline, for example there is no edge to the face -  so I try and look for areas of similar tone and work those one at a time

Oh wow that's amazing. Sounds like an advance way to draw. I could never draw without the outline or guidelines, but I think it would be a good challenge when I get used to drawing a lot of faces.

you should try it - it's good to be fearless when drawing and you may find it easier
