Sky is gorgeous! I know it's rather hard to draw gradients and such things as sky with color pencil. Great work on her hair too! How big is it???

Ah! Standard A4??? My favorite size! But working on details should be hard! Good luck with the contest and finishing it!

Actually, color pencil artist, Ann Kullberg taught me that technique. I never use to do that, and I decided to try her technique, to see if it makes a difference in perfecting skin tones.

The strength of the character is already in play, the balance of the composition is jeopardized by the placement of the ship, it's a bit low, see if you agree with that. A beautiful piece overall! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thank you! Do you think I should move the ship up higher or maybe make it smaller?

For future only! it could be a bit smaller and the placement of the bottom of the ship would then sit higher on the 'canvas' and the top should stay as is...This is hand drawn right? You don't need to start over!..once you've completed Elizabeth, the focus won't be on the ship...I think because the ship is complete, it is easy to scrutinize it when it's the focal point....(ie; only finished component) but the placement of the ship is not going to be the deciding factor in this contest....I can't believe I opened my big mouth! Really, it's a beautiful piece just as is...
