Well people aren't viewing your art because you, its because the groups. Don't you want to gain the attention by yourself? Work hard for it rather than spending like 30 minutes submitting to groups?

But without seeing anything of someone's art at all (i.e if you kept it to yourself) no one would be ever be able to view and judge it. To gain favourites, the person must not only see your piece, but enjoy it as well. I wish I was able to look at all the art in the world to find ones I would love but have missed.
Groups give you the ability to share it with people who are not your friends, and get a more balanced view from your audience. It is a logical fallacy to judge someone for showing their work in multiple places, because that is not the be-all and end-all of success. It must strike a chord with the audience before it gains any popularity. If you never show your art, it never has the chance to bring anyone any happiness, get any recognition, or get any critique. You would never improve.
