Your art has potential! All I can really say is to first try and work on anatomy, even if it is just an "Art style", I suggest possibly making the head a bit slimmer and trying to take your time with lines a lot more. If you continually draw and make efforts to improve, I know you can go places! 

I'm not saying your art is bad, by the way, I know that you're at that phase between starting and improving! I hope you don't take this as negativity, rather constructive criticism, even if it wasn't asked for.

My only real other pointer is try to color in one direction only, I've found that makes things look a whole lot smoother and nicer to look at, like, easier on the eyes? Less distracting?

Well, that's what I have to say about the art! I love that you credited Hussie, and I agree that John needs a lot more love and I would have liked if we got a lot more backstory on him.
