Description As new formats releases some movies might need to be released to stay up-to-date with the newer formats and Toy Story is never shy to this. I am going to list the many releases of Toy Story on the standard disc-based formats. Along with that here's a disc design comparison as well.

Toy Story 2000 DVD: Toy Story 2 was a pretty big deal in 2000 to be release on home video and DVD, it's a no-brainer to release not only the sequel, but also it's predecessor on DVD. In order for people to get there hands on the first Toy Story though, they might need to buy the 2-Pack. Despite being part of the 2-Pack, the DVD disc has a " Walt Disney Gold Collection" label. There was a even more special (and expensive) version of the 2-Pack and that is...

Toy Story The Ultimate Toy Box: Not to be confused with the 3-Movie Blu-Ray bundle that came in Andy's toy chest. The 2000 Ultimate Toy Box bundle is a must-have version (At the time) for movie fans as it contains behind-the-scenes features, commentary for both the first and second Toy Story, delated scenes and other stuff for people who want to learn more about Toy Story. There's also a music video for the credits/duet version of the iconic "You Got a Friend in Me" and a behind the scenes feature that was actually from the Laserdisc version of the film. Both features are also in the VHS copy (Only the BTS feature was shortened to make room for trailers, music video, Tin Toy short and obviously the movie it self) although both features never appeared in the standard or the future 2001 DVD. Speaking of which...

2001 Rerelease: Now consumers can just buy Toy Story 1 and not get bundles if they aren't interested or didn't like the sequel! Difference other than disc art reflecting Buzz and Woody flying against a golden background, the new 2001 DVD also added trailers for other DVDs and movies releasing the same time or released before. Have either the 2000 DVD or this 2001 release and you pretty much have both of the releases other than one has trailers and the other does not. Both this release and Toy Story 2's 2001 rerelease were actually part of the Disney Vault despite being made by Pixar, so consumers have to buy the movies as soon as they can. People who missed out have to wait for sometime unless they buy used copies of the previous releases.

2005: Toy Story turns 10 in 2005 and Toy Story (and Toy Story 2) finally joined the 2-Disc special edition crew along with the just released DVD copy of The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc. Toy Story 2-Disc Special Edition has features from the Ultimate Toy Box, but also has new ones like a Claw mini game, more behind the scenes material, peoples' thought on Toy Story 10 years later and Toy Story's legacy influence in pop culture. The movie is also remastered with better sound and visuals compare to the previous releases which used the Laserdisc version's footage as a skeleton for previous DVD releases. Also releases from the 2000 2-Pack version all the way to this contains there own THX logos.

2010: To hype up the highly-anticipated Toy Story 3, Toy Story 1 and 2 made there way into Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray has the movie in HD at last, all of the bonuses from the Ultimate Toy Box and 2-Disc Special Edition DVDs (Minus Claw mini game) and some new features. The 2010 DVD just have the features designed for the Blu-Ray. Including the infamous Black Friday reel and also episode 1 of Buzz Lightyear's Mission Logs. A mini series in collaboration with NASA. Episode 2 and 3 can be found on Toy Story 2 on Blu-Ray and 2010 DVD and Toy Story 3 on Blu-Ray and DVD and can be founded on YouTube. The film uses the version as seen in it's 3D release back in 2009 which the old Disney castle logo wasn't working properly in 3D, so they have to replace it with the new castle logo. That's the same master shown in the Blu-Ray, airings on TV channels and movie channels, Disney+ and 4K releases.

2011 3D: For people who had fun watching Toy Story (And Toy Story 2) in eye-popping 3D back in 2009, they have to wait until 2011 to have the 3D experience at home. There's version of the 3D movie that came with just the 3D Blu-Ray or along with the DVD and Blu-Ray. Unknown buyers who didn't own a 3D TV or lack interest on 3D, beware and asked for the version with the regular Blu-Ray!

2019 4K: To hype up on Toy Story 4, Toy Story 1 - 3 made there way in 4K UHD to offer the best-looking and sounding versions of the films to have at home. The Blu-Ray disc is the same one from previous Blu-Ray releases has a make-up and replaced the trailers since in the 2010 and 2011 Blu-Rays with two Toy Story 4 trailers. Outside of BD-Live being removed, different artwork and trailers replaced with Toy Story 4 trailers the film and bonuses remains the same. Al though Toy Story 2 has a outtake removed in recent releases like Disney+, 4K and newer Blu-Rays/4K where the Prospector is talking to two identical Barbie dolls in a "couch-casting" joke due to the Harvey Weinstine incident and the "MeTwo" movement.

Toy Story is one of the most important films not only to Pixar's legacy, but also should be the film thanked for other movies like the Shrek series, Jimmy Neutron, Pixar's future films like A Bug's Life, Monsters series and other films whenever it's from Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks or others. No wonder why it gets so much releases.
