Description The two main National Symbols of the Republic of Mauritia (formely known as New Holland or Dutch Brazil)

The Flag: It consists of a main triband made up of Orange, Navy Blue and Dark Green stripes, divided by two smaller white stripes. The Orange stands for the arid interior (Achterlands), the Blue for the country's rivers and Green for the Atlantic Forest. The colors also evoke the Prinsenvlag, representing the main Dutch component of the Nation.

The Coat of Arms: The main shield or Escutcheon represents the union of the four main provinces of New Holland, those being Pernambuco, Itamaraca, Parahiba and Riogrande. It is flanked by two National flags on both sides, and crowned with a blue and white Torse and a Sun, representing the country's geographical location as the first place on the American continent where the sun rises, as well as it's often hot tropical weather.
