Ah, I see. I didn't take classes either, however. I taught myself how to speak and write Japanese.

I can say "Yare Yare Daze" and stuff like that, but to someone who can speak the language fluently, i'd be talking gibberish.

In my observation, nowadays, most of Japanese mainly using katakana words to write animal name rather than using hiragana even or kanji.

It's "Araiguma". Each character/kana stands for a syllable. That's only katakana though- in hiragana, it's writtenΒ γγγγγΎ, and in kanji it's writtenΒ ζ΄η. (Japanese has three separate alphabets.)

Indeed. I love hiragana and katakan though! Those two are just fine!

Kit-The-Wolfy In reply to JFlare205 [2015-07-30 05:49:51 +0000 UTC]
True, but kanji is what provides context when speaking Japanese. Hiragana and katakana are only syllables, unless you're writing in Ainu, for which katakana with some additions is the singular script. Without kanji, Japanese orthography would mostly be meaningless gibberish.
Plus, there's furigana, which dictates the reading of kanji by inscribing hiragana or katakana above them-- you normally see furigana in kid's books, manga, or stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh cards, since kids are the ones who usually have trouble with reading kanji.
