it wa just how it ended up used a rubber band to keep them together

Beautiful macro clarity..

..brings back one of my fondest childhood memories.. I used to save up (equivalent of about 20c) to buy derwent pencils singley at the newsagents to add to my collection of 24.. only about 3 kids out of 110 in my year at school had a set of 78.. my children had the full 78 when they first started school and it was pretty standard!
