I feel there is quite a difference in the strokes of each side of the painting. The colorful side has more coarse strokes and the monochromatic side seems to have smoother ones--making the color side textured and organic and the other more smooth and unnatural. Though I have been somewhat of an environmentalist for a while, I find my eyes more attracted to the monochrome side---it's almost sexy (maybe it's the hair on that side.)!! I enjoy looking at this piece and your work in general. It seems your work is effective--I often find myself wanting to read the articles these illustrations are for.
