There are not enough wooden girls in the world!
Here is another carving made from a piece of firewood. Spring is finally here thankfully so this wood won't be needed in that capacity till next year.
Carving a chunk of firewood is great because if you screw up you revert to plan A and burn. No one is the wiser, no expensive rare trees have to die to slake your wicked thirst. For most carving... the wood on the ground you pass on your way to the 'wood store' is better than what you'll buy. That rotted wood your dog pissed on is probably hiding spalted grain patterns that would bring a wood lover to orgasm.

This was an attempt to make a one day carving, something marketable! It ended up taking more than a day but from certain views she has class and stability. The starting block was 16"tall x 4" FTB x 6" wide, gently spalted, lightly figured tiger maple.

Onward and upward till onward takes us downward!
