Description A carnivorous plant. A plaque nearby said venus flytrap but this does not look like one to me! If you know the name of the plant feel free to inform me

I think it is Sarracenia purpurea (purple pitcher plant), cause mine has a flower like that. I'm not entirely sure though, all sarracenia flowers look kinda alike

Gorgeous shot! All I can tell you is that it's a species of Sarracenia- or North American pitcher plant.

Thank you! I did indeed find out it is a pitcher plant. I was surprised by this because I tend to visualize a pitcher plant as having a deep center and long not like this!

Do Venus flytraps have a blossom? This one sure looks alien enough to be one, if they do.

Nice, I have some growing in the back, none like this one though.

For some reason I find it scary to grow them in the yard and I honestly do not know why. Perhaps because I am afraid my two dogs would go after them and that they may attack my dogs back

You must have very small dogs; or very large plants.

Two beagles. I do not have any bug eating plants. I do hear they are great for keeping insects away!

I guess, but there are lots of frogs here. I think they do most of the work.
