That's interesting, Derek Is that where you are living now, too? I've only been on a narrowboat once and it was only for a brief duration whilst my mother helped steer her friend's boat, but I did enjoy it (although slightly apprehensive at the possibility of my mother steering the boat into the bank, given that she had never steered a narrowboat before)  

I think it's simply called Llangollen Canal and I know that it is connected to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (which I also went across! It was high up).

Still in sunny Northampton! As a kid our family home was about 2 miles away from the nearest part of the Grand Union and my mates and I used to go there all the time, especially on our bikes in the summer holidays; now the nearest stretch is about 4 miles away. I've visited scores of canalside pubs on countless occasions, just never made it onto the water! And yes, it is the Llangollen Canal in your photo!
