Description Tetsu is my first and original character child of Kouga and Ayame of the United Northern and Eastern Wolf Demon Tribe. Originally, I wanted Kouga and Ayame to have a first-born son, and I mediated between him and a first-born daughter, Yukimi. Eventually, I favored the idea of Yukimi being the first-born rather than Tetsu. Tetsu just lingered in the cloud, until I decided that he should still be a part of the KougAyame family; although he passes at a very early age. Later, Mizuki and Taka (younger siblings) came into the picture and my KougAyame OC children merged with Jett and Sen-- two other KougAyame OC children owned by *spaceCanine . Tetsu exists only when Jett is just an infant and his existence, in life and spirit, has significantly impacted the lives of the KougAyame family and others who are inspired by his miracle. Yukimi, especially, has come to learn about pure love and how important Tetsu is to her own life.

Now that that's out of the way, let's get started!

Character type: Fancharacter; based on Inuyasha by Rumiko Takahashi

Name: Tetsu                 Meaning: Iron; symbolizes magical protection
Gender: Male
Birthday: May 17, 1497
(Drawn at age 3)

Parents: Kouga and Ayame
Siblings: (From oldest to youngest) Jett, Yukimi, Sen (half-sister), Taka, and Mizuki

Personality/Age Development: (**Note: Wolf-demons mentally and physically mature faster than humans with age; 1 wolf demon year= 1.3 human years of development) As an infant, Tetsu has always been a "good child," as Ayame would put it. He never really created such a fuss and was almost always patient, even when he was hungry, thirsty, or in discomfort. The only exception is when he starts teething. D: Even when he came into the world as a newborn, he settled down from crying and was wide-eyed in wonder. Even though he saw the world in such a blur, a maelstrom of color, he was quiet, intently listening, curious about the clear, crisp sound of his mother and father's voice and voices of other strangers. Tetsu is always fixed new sounds like the lullaby of the songbirds when he was put down for a nap, the scuffling of leaves rustling in autumn, and the trickling of water from a nearby stream. Wolves barking near the den or howling from afar tends to bring him comfort and a smile to his face.

Not only does he have a heightened sense of hearing, but his sense of smell isn't too shabby either. When other friends/comrades want to hold him, he whimpers in discomfort because he picks up their unfamiliar scent. No matter, though. He eventually learns their scent and gains familiarity. He enjoys it when others sway and cradle him anyways.

At 3 months old, Tetsu begins to crawl, and his curiosity gets the best of him. He wanders in and around and even out of the den sometimes, with the supervision of Ayame or other pup-sitters of course. Sometimes he sneaks out of peripheral vision and crawls into potentially hazardous situations but is prevented in the nick-of-time. Other wolf pups from neighboring dens just outside his like to visit him. Usually when Tet wanders outside his den, he stumbles into other dens to visit his wolf pup friends, too. But when it's time to stay inside, he likes to get into the paints that lay near the cave walls and make his own creations, unintentionally, while he making a mess of himself.

By 4 and a half months, babbling starts and never stops! Kouga and Ayame are filled with joy when Tetsu learns to call Ayame 'haha' and Kouga 'chichi'; although instead of 'chi chi' it sounds like 'ti ti.' Tet has difficulty saying 'otou-' and 'okaa-san', and 'haha' and 'ti ti' are good enough. He tries to engage himself in conversations with mommy and daddy and it works! The only problem is, his parents can't quite make out what he's trying to tell them. He notices they tend to respond to his squeals of joy and laughter and enjoys the idea of getting cuddled when he does. And vice versa. He seems to think that the wolf pups and his own toys understand him better.

Tetsu is motivated by novel sights as he discovers the world around him. That probably explains why he's always up-and-about trying to to leave the safe-zone of their den to tackle the new day and adventures ahead of him. When he knows his way around, his mind is always distracted by things he isn't so familiar with. But like his wolf nature, he is obedient; he knows when to stop when Ayame or Kouga barks a firm 'No' at him when they see him in any potential danger. He takes note of the command and gets distracted by something else.
When he does discover a new object, he always finds the need to put it in his mouth. This, of course, is how all babies discover things.

At 7 months of age, Tet is able to stand up just for a few seconds before falling ker'plump on his bum. He only stands when he needs to... like when he wants to see something far away or if an object is interfering with his view of something-- which is pretty cute because it reminds Ayame of little weasels or ground squirrels on the surface of the forest floor, popping their little heads up from out of their dens. A little frustration tends to build up at this age because he is determined to get up and run about like all the other wolf pups can. Nevertheless, Tetsu is his cheerful, happy self, almost always. Negative behavior is hardly seen at all from him; no tantrums, at least, not yet.

Right after he turns 10 months, Tetsu is already toddling around chasing after squirrels, birds, butterflies-- anything really, that moves around. He's a little more satisfied with this way of travel. Tet has always been free-spirited and playful.
By this time, he has picked up an abundance of words but can only speak one word at a time. He can say things like tree, butterfly and water, but it sounds as if his 'tewwible-two's' lisp has clung onto him. So his words sound like "twee, buh-fwy, and wata." 'One language that comes more natural than speaking is body language. He picks this up whenever he plays with his wolf friends. For example, head down, arched back, paws front, and tail up means play time. Rolling over, belly exposed means that it's lick and cuddle time. Tail curled down, expresses fear/sadness. Just as Tetsu learns how to speak words, he learns how to bark and howl. Of course its not necessary; it sounds all cute and silly, but all he really does is observe and imitate.
Kouga and Ayame leave every once and a while to hunt or visit the sister wolf tribes of the south and west. As they leave, he notices that a gust of wind accompanies them when they run, and it looks as if they transformed into a whirlwind. He never sees this as often, so it has him awe-struck. Tetsu tries to imitate this, but falls on his behind every time. This becomes is next ambition.

Opposed to his playful side, Tetsu also has a calm, relaxed side. He loves to watch the seasons go by and absorb the scenery. Sometimes on his own time but mostly with mom and dad. Sometimes with Uncle Ginta or Hakkaku, too. Leaning on Ayame, Tetsu closes his eyes and listens to every voice of the forest. He soon falls gently asleep clinging onto Ayame, or whoever he falls asleep on.

Tetsu forms a great bond with his parents Kouga and Ayame because of all the time they spend together and the trust he has built up for them since day one. When it is a silent start of the day and Tetsu is left playing by himself under the care of a pup-sitter, he nuzzles his face close to his plush wolf-pup because he has built up a sense of insecurity when mom and dad are away. (see Accessories)

A few months after Tetsu's first year, his curiosity and 24/7 attention gets challenged when Jett, his younger brother, is born the following fall of this year. At first, Tetsu doesn't know what to think of him. He stares at him, into his hazy, gray eyes. He touches his face, presses his nose like a button, and attempts to put his mouth on him (as an instinct). He smells Ayame's scent all around him, but yet, he has a distinguished scent of his own. He is fragile to the touch. Tetsu instantly falls in love with his new little brother. For the first few weeks of Jett's existence, Tet's insecurity peaks. Jett has become his first terminal attachment (besides his parents) and wants to discover, learn, and play with him as much as he can. Little does he know that he can be a little too rough on him, and Ayame and Kouga tell him that he can only 'watch' Jett for now. To Tetsu, it seems like whenever he has a chance to play with him, Kouga or Ayame always picks him up and take him somewhere else. In his toddler mind, he thinks that mommy and daddy are always so busy with Jett. With the first few weeks of this, Tetsu continues on playing with his other friends and occupies himself with other things.
Although, he still can't help feeling his duties as a big brother. He still checks up on him when they leave him down for a nap. But when Jett cries, Tetsu panics just a little. If Tet thinks he's thirsty, he tries to pour water in his mouth, but it gets them both all wet instead. If he thinks Jett is hungry, he gets the juiciest salmon from food pile and plops it right next to him. When little Jett kicks it and cries hysterical, Tetsu runs to mom and dad. When Ayame and Kouga return and find Jett drenched on top of a puddle, screaming and kicking, they scold Tetsu for waking him up. This is one of the only times Tetsu tears up and gets a little angry. He doesn't understand what he did wrong and rationalizes that he was only trying to help. Kouga and Ayame reasons with Tetsu and tries to explain that Jett isn't old enough to do everything his big brother can and that soon, but not yet, he will be able to be more of a big brother when Jett is a little bit older.

When Tetsu just turned 2, Jett turned six months and was already fast-crawling and baby talking. Like Tetsu, Jett had difficulty pronouncing some consonants and its clusters. So instead of pronouncing Tetsu, Jett ended up calling Tetsu 'Tesu' or just 'Tet-tet.' 'Tet' seemed to stick more than 'Tesu', and this is how Tetsu got the nickname Tet.
By this time, Tetsu's insecurity has diminished because he was able to interact with Jett more. :3 Because Jett can not walk yet, Tetsu loves to pick him up and carry him places. The only down side is Tet struggles a bit because Jett is a very heavy baby and dragging him across the ground is second best to carrying.

Accessories: Tetsu is sometimes seen with his plush wolf pup, Niko (as in "niko-niko" which is roughly translated as 'smile'; whenever Niko is presented to Tetsu, a smile always follows. :3)
His plush was hand-made by Ayame, as well as other toys. (Other toys, like Tet's noise-making toys [ex. rattles], were made my Kouga. These were mostly played with when Tetsu was a baby. Tet grew bored of these sounds in search of new, more interesting sounds.) Ayame cut out shapes out of a beaver fur pelt that made out contours of the plush wolf pup, sewed it together with sturdy string and filled it with sand and snips of Ayame's hair. The tail is also made entirely from a lock of Ayame's hair. Ayame knew that her scent would comfort and calm Tetsu. It wasn't the softest toy of the bunch but it was comfortable enough for Tetsu to cuddle. The plush toy only resembles a wolf; it lacked some features... only because Ayame wasn't much of an artist.

Appearance: At the age of 3, Tetsu is about 32 inches and weighs about 33 pounds. Just like his father, he has neutral-blue eyes and black hair, tied up in a short-stub ponytail held up with a brown tie.  Tetsu has slightly tanned skin, as well. He wears a dark caramel, sleeveless fur-pelt shirt that is white collared, accompanied by a dark, coffee-ground-brown fur-pelt "skirt" that is tied up with a dirty-gold colored belt, into a bow (sometimes it is seen tied in a simple knot). Underneath his clothing, Tetsu wears black and metallic-silver armor. All wolf youkai wear these because of tradition and protection. Wraps are seen around the instep of his feet to reduce wear on the pads of his feet while running. His ears are pointed, elf-like, like Sesshomaru and other demons. Tetsu has a tail, small and bushy like a wolf-pup's, and it is indeed part of his body.

As a spirit, Tetsu has a temporary glow that comes on and off from time to time. His ghost bears a several wounds from his death; three major wounds are all on his left side (as depicted). The three major wounds are one mid-shaft his left abdomen, one piercing his bicep on his left arm, and one on the side of his left thigh, just above the knee. These DO NOT bleed as a spirit and are merely representations of his wounds.

Aw, thank you! and yes, he has more of Kouga's traits than Ayame

And actually, because I don't want 2 more mini-me's, so Mizuki has blue eyes and Taka has green eyes. and also since Jett now has green eyes.

Hehe, I wish he didn't have to, too.

Yup. Most of the others are either pretty mixed or lean towards Ayame (Aki in Sen's case), so it's cute to see a Kouga-esque one, other than Taka. :3

Wow, thanks! I thought of it negatively about it, but then I didn't want too much of a mix, so I guess Tetsu is just fine

Well, it's not necessarily unusual for a child to lean more towards one parent or the other. I don't like it when people make InuKag kids that look like clones of Inuyasha because 1.) it's way too common and 2.) their kids wouldn't be hanyou like Inuyasha, they'd be more human. But since Kouga and Ayame are both pure-blooded wolf youkai, I see nothing wrong with one of them taking mostly after one parents as long as they're not all complete mini-mes, haha.

Yay, he's perfect then :3 I had to draw him with a pony tail cuz then he'd look too much like Taka! ahh!! xD

Haha, yup. Y'know, out of all six of my InuKag kids, Kikyo is the only one who has anything in her hair. XD I suppose part of that is that she and Izzy are the only ones with long hair at all (though Michi does grow his out when he gets older; wears it in a ponytail.) Even Moriko has shorter hair when she gets a bit older, through childhood, at least.

Holy cow! Now that I think about all the KougAyame kids, Taka is the ONLY one WITHOUT anything in his hair! What a coincidence. xP

Lol, well, there you go! XD And I'm pretty sure that ALL of the MirSan kids have some kind of ponytail or pigtail.
