Description Chapter 5: The Forest Road

the woods were calm peaceful and beautiful birds were singing, a deer was grazing just out of sight you can hear trickle the water as it ran down a stream, the country road worked the through the forest like an black adder. Suddenly a rider dressed completely in red shot past on his Black stallion, you wasn't not no for the red that all Highlanders wear but he was covered in blood, lucky for her it wasn't all her own. The woman's face was panicked twigs and leaves were tangled in brown hair which was secured in a bun. Using her adrenaline to forget the pain,  with her bloodshot brown eyes fixed on the path ahead. A moment later a javelin it soared thought the wind narrowly missing her ear and struck a tree with such force that the bark from the tree leaped off.

She  looked behind startled by the narrow miss to see three ash warriors. With their snow white skin they were sometimes referred to as the ghosts of the North where wild black hair floated on the wind like a storm, one of the riders suddenly came up beside her with his double bladed battle axe raised in the air and began to draw down onto the Highlander, with one hand the Highlanders grabbed the handle of the axe her arm scream under the force as the axe struck it with fierce determination she pulled out with his other hand an arrow and jammed it deep into the ash warriors armpits she could feel the cartilage giveaway under the pressure of his arrow, the ash warrior caught by surprise lost his grip on the battle axe. The Highlanders gripped it firmly with all the force she could muster she brought it down on the horses neck, which crunched like breaking a walnuts the horse hit the floor with such speed that if the horse wasn't already dead it would indeed be with the amount of force it's head hit the ground into the road and there rolled back onto the rider crushing him.

The Highlanders turned back on her saddle whilst pulling out her bow and notching an arrow, that very moment she took aim she saw the javelin heading straight for her she let loos the arrow and it struck the javelin, the arrow  shattering on impact but it did enough to send the javelin off course, just before the second ash warrior could even draw another javelin he had set a arrow loose a second arrow which seemed to be singing as it flew through the air and plummeted into the ash warriors throat his eyes glazed over and he toppled off the horse.

The last warrior jumped over his comrades body he started to gain speed quickly as the road began to straighten. The Highlanders dug deep she could see the end of the forest he was able to pass it just in time and saw civilisation at last. He turned around in her seat to see that the ash warrior had stopped in the shadows of the trees line and had turned back and headed into the forest. Turn back in her saddle she could finally relax. she went riding towards the city of haven and the name fitted it all too well in her opinion.
