For 's contest to find a partner for her new OC, Petiole.

I have so many OCs to introduce to dA, it's absurd (both 9 AND MLP related, at that). This gal would be Ingenue, part of the same circus that Wild Side is. Which still needs a name. She's part of the freakshow portion of the circus, however, though she's treated respectfully by her peers. For the most part. She was created by an old unicorn whose special talent was toy-making. He would animate his toys and make them dance to entertain the children who frequented his store.

He longed for a child of his own, but his wife was barren and as he grew older his despair at the fact gave way to obsession when he lost his beloved wife to sickness. Ingenue was intended to be the pure-hearted daughter he never had (though the body itself is of an adult, as adults contain more magic) but the strain of animating a living doll ended up killing him, leaving Ingenue homeless and without purpose. The crystal heart sewn into her chest is the core of the enchantment and must be periodically recharged in order to keep her alive.

Why they like Petiole - I think when Ingenue first saw his pony disguise, Hourglass, she recognized something...ingenuine about him. Like he was not what he seemed to be, but instead was playing a role. Rather like herself, stuck in the role of the sweet and harmless doll, always smiling and always silent when the crowds are gathered around. Innocence at its purest, uncorrupted by the trouble thinking too much and knowing too much about the world just outside of her little stall brings.

She'd like the fact there's someone out there that might understand how unsatisfying that kind of existence is, and the fact that in spite of a role he was forced into he was able to find some way to define himself and be happy. And the fact he likes to make others laugh would be nice, as she herself still isn't quite sure how to find genuine joy in things.
What they and Petiole would do together - She would have SO many questions about the world and the hive and what it's like being a changeling and. Everything! Anything that gets her out and about, she'll probably enjoy doing.
Feelings toward the hive/Petiole's work - Curiosity, mostly. She wasn't exactly socialized morally like a child would have been, so the idea of feeding off of others to survive wouldn't seem horrible to her as much as different, and she'd really want to know why and what it's like.
Why would they make a good couple? - They seem like they both need someone they could be themselves around, and someone who makes them feel valuable for their true personalities.
