the worst thing is i have tried. I can make the magic circle thing but then i cant seem to be able to keep it from going into a ball of some kind. I can make a single chain stitch but that is about all i can do.

Oh, when you're making the magic circle, then you have to single crochet in the circle, right? Well, you are making the sc's all on top of one another, when you have to sc NEXT to each other in the circle, to form them into a line. It took me a while to figure that out, too xP
