Description introduction:this series is 6 months old, but i had to submit it here because it represents a milestone in my life, as well as in my "art".
it's part of my forgotten women project, that i started very randomly and was like a seed that grew up and bloomed inside me, it was an input that made me think and made me notice a few concepts and idea i already had inside me, even though i didn't know them.

i've always been critical towards feminism for a number of reasons, but i've come to the conclusion that i'm very feminist, too, in my own peculiar way.i'm sure that a "real" feminist could feel offended by the bottom-right polaroid, but it has its reasons to be there and i'm ready to explain them

i'm focusing a lot of my attention on gender studies, women's studies and feminism at the moment, i'm also planning to start a very long and challenging project about these themes, all of this because of this series.

concept:these works are not about society on a large scale, but about women in their families.
it is about women who ask for recognition to those men who still claim to be better. the worst part of the problem is that those men are often husbands, fathers, sons, brothers that are supposed to know the strenght, personality, intelligence and efforts of the women of their family, but they are completely blind.
no gender is better than the other, our genitalia aren't meant to influence the judgement on who's worthy and who isn't, they are meant to let us be one.

technique:i took a polaroid of a 1962 magazine that belonged to my grandmother and another polaroid of a red sheet of paper.
i painted the first one with black ink.
after a few days, i cut, scratched and washed the red polaroid, gluing it on the other. i cut letters from a book and put them on the widest border. all of this for 4 times

(i digitally removed some flaws and glue stains that in the originals are almost invisible but, scanned, jump on the beholder's face.)

there is no such thing as a real feminist... we are varied but share the same view that "women are people too"! nice work.
