Today I really, really wanted to draw a male character. I decided on Mungojerrie and got to sketchin'... only the longer I worked the more it became obvious that this was going to be one sinister looking Mungojerrie. I decided to see if maybe colouring it would make it look better... And no, no it didn't. In fact, my usual semi-realistic colouring made him look even creepier.So I decided to do something different. To me it looks a bit like old school comic book meets saturday morning cartoon. Either way it seems to be the only way to make him look not quite so much like he's plotting a murder.

I don't think he looks creepy. Tough maybe, but that's something I kind of like in Mungo. He doesn't have to be silly all the time. Plus I love the colour in this, so vibrant!

I actually adore his expression. The colouring is very vivid too which I like. I don't think I need to tell you how much I love your work... but I will! It's great to see you drawing Jellicles again.

Yay! That makes me happy. Work's getting stressful, Christmas is always crappy at the vets, so yeah. Need something to cheer me up. I have no particular requests I don't think, although would love to see a take on Admetus or Alonzo.

Christmas time is crappy at the vet's? I suppose because there's more people out and about there are more accidents? I'm sorry if it's something you'd rather not think about, but it just never occurred to me that you'd have times of the year that were worse than others - though now that I'm thinking about it, it makes sense.
My work is slow, slow, slow just now. Though it will pick up for a couple of weeks in December when everyone will want Santa Suits, then die down again until Valentine's.

Yeah, it generally is. Mostly because for some reason we get a lot more euthanasias at this time of year, and yeah, more accidents too. Just generally seems to suck.

That does sound like an epic job. Having recently gone to London Expo with Amanika, I've kind of caught the Cats costuming bug. Knitting helps me destress as it turns out! But I wouldn't say no to an awesome drawing from you

You did a fabulous job! Well, at least you're brave enough to actually draw the whole body; I'm still struggling a bit myself. Did you go to any art schools or are you self-taught?

Totally self-taught. I did art in highschool but it was more classical - still life painting and learning how to use different mediums, nothing about anatomy or the human form. I basically just taught myself by studying the art of people I admired and trying to figure out how they did it. I read tutorials, look through art books, and experiment as much as I can. I'm still learning, and probably will be my whole life.

I'm self-taught as well! I want to join some kind of art class but those cost money and and I don't really have time for it. However, I'm learning just as much from how-to tutorials online from really amazing artist.And, well, you're one of the artist that I admire and try to learn from.
