Description Is it wrong to wish you've got a girlfriend just so you can have a model to do shoots with? Hmm.

I had mixed feelings when I uploaded this shot because there's so much history hehind it (and the model)... it took a long time for me to be able to look at it objectively as a photograph without emotions getting in the way.

Model: Aimee (Who I remain good friends with)
Shot at One Tree Hill, Auckland, in 2003.

I love how so much is hidden in the dark, in the doorway, like she's boxed off. And the idea that she's untouchable is further emphasized by the lines, which look like spikes to me. Really well done.

Thanks! It's a difficult task as many people's monitor brightness is different and therefore would see different pictures.

freakeesh [2006-12-15 12:13:38 +0000 UTC]

amazing..

i also thought of japanese horror films.. the grainy look gives this shot something very special.. she is so well integrated it the background because of all the shadows around like there's no better place for her to be.. and the pose is calling one to follow her..

Okay, first thought: The resize tool is your friend. But, ignoring that, It's a very interesting shot. I agree with ~mydarlingsugaree , it feels very japanese horror film-ish. Good use of shadows and highlights, the b&w was a very good choice here.

Thank u... although I don't really know what u mean by the resize tool... don't even have photoshop!

ah, the fullview is rather large Maybe MS paint or some other program could also be used to make it a little more viewable.

mydarlingsugaree [2006-11-09 22:34:43 +0000 UTC]

I think it's a really creepy looking picture. Almost like a japanese horror movie or something. I dunno, thats what I saw.

Very, very good capture. She seems lost, and the way she fades into the background catches your eyes. Nice work.

shame there's not more detail in the shadows.

the interest is there but it fails to deliver upon inspection... don't just entice me, wow me.

My intention was to leave the shadows and the face dark to draw contrast/attention to the dress and arm... but thank you for the comment!

I love this shot. I wouldn't say that I can see your loving this girl when I look at the picture, but I understand the picture better with the background of knowing that you did (/do?).
Amazing capture.

I love this picture.. it's so mysterious.. somehow old... ghostly even?
I don't know, it just has this special touch that a lot of artists try to but fail to add to their works...
Great job! <3

Thanks u... I like the grainy, aged feel this shot produced... The 'special touch' may have something to do with me being madly in love with the model at the time of the shoot!

That's possible, you can mainstream a lot of emotions into your art

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CatchMe-22 In reply to S-a-n-n-e [2006-10-01 15:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes you can creative some intensely beautiful art by channeling your emotions... but when you're involved with the subject too much you also run the risk of getting obsessed with the work! (which is a problem for me... I spend hours obsessing on the tiniest details)
