Alaska would like to thank you for your sweet comment.
She's doing fine, she has grown up so much since that photo was taken.
She's almost 9 months old now.

I bet!!
I have a kitty, Bitzi, who thinks she is sooo huge and fierce, when in reality, even at 2-years-old, is a little runt.
She is so cute and funny I don't have the heart to tell her I am not scared of her.

Awuh, sounds a lot like my Alaska.Β β₯ Alaska is literally tiny -only 2 kg at 7 months old. Despite that fact, she never hesitates to jump on Rudy, challenging him to play/fight with her. And she usually wins.Β
-By the way I saw a few photos of Bitzi, she is adorable and she gained one more fan.-

Yea, Bitzi loves t play attack Bobbi, who is much much older, and sometimes is very annoyed by Bitzi, but sometimes, she'll play fight. She just has to be in the mood.'
Bitzi was 2 last month, and Bobbi will be 16 next month.

Awuh, I hope both of them will reach 30 years old, even more!
Alaska and Rudy only have a few months difference -Rudy will be 1 next month while Alaska is 7 months old- and a difference in size as well. That doesn't stop Alaska from trying to fight him almost all the time. Though Rudy is a gentle giant and he rarely gets annoyed, he just runs to hide somewhere.Β He's just more the calm and relaxed type. They both get along well though.

Aw, your kitties are just babies, and I am sure they will live to be 100.
When Bobbi first adopted us, we had 3 other cats.
This was back in 1998, and Bobbi just appeared in our yard one day, and never left.
That's when I took that picture of her up in the tree when she was teasing us to make us climb up there to get her.
Anyway, I had these 3 other kitties.
Crickett, who lived to be 19 years old, was a full-blood chocolate point Siamese.
Piggy, Crickett's daughter, and Β another Calico, lived to be 17.
And Piggy's brother, Buddy, (another black & white kitty) who was 18 when we lost him.
You will see all three of them in a folder called "Angel Kitties."Β Β Β Β

I'm sorry about your loss; yet I feel happy to know that all your kitties were taken care of and they felt loved for so many years. -I'll definitely check that folder of your gallery too.-Β
As for my babies, I hope they'll live this many years as well. I'm scared of losing them and even being away from them for a few hours makes me miss them terribly.Β
By the way, I think that Bobbi adopted you. -Cats are the ones that adopt us most of the time.-Β Β
I found Rudy stuck in a car when he was just around 2 months old, he was very scared yet when I held him, he looked at me with his blue eyes and purred and that was it. I couldn't let him go.
Alaska's case was different, she was a few days old and abused and I didn't know if she'd survive. Though after spending the first day with her, I knew I'd be broken if she wouldn't. She's a normal, healthy kitten right now and I'm glad I didn't walk away from her.

Well, Rudy is one lucky kitty that you found him and took care of him. He is so sweet.Β
You are so right, I misspoke. Both Bobbi and Bitzi adopted me, against my will.
The key, I have found, to long lives for the cats is to spoil them ROTTEN, feed them good quality food, and make sure they have plenty of fresh water all the time, as well as vet visits when necessary.
Other than that, just shower them with love, love, and more love.
I'm glad, too, that you didn't walk away from that precious kitty.

I'm trying to do my best, not only for Rudy and Alaska but also for every stray kitty and dog I meet. And thank you for the advice.Β Β I think love is perhaps the most important part. I've seen animals that don't get much love, and it's heart-breaking. And cats really can sense when they feel unwanted. And from what I've seen all these years, they can also be very loyal -unlike what some people believe.

Oh, you are so right.
I know quite a few people who I wouldn't trust with anything, but I would trust my life to my cats. If they had opposable thumbs, they would throw themselves in front of me if anyone were to threaten me with harm.
I absolutely cannot see any animal being mistreated. It breaks my heart.
I cannot watch the commercials on TV that show these poor neglected dogs and cats Β who are abandoned at the pound. I cry every time!! I have to change the channel.
Oh, and I am now and will forever be that crazy cat lady you always hear about.
And proud of it.

I also can't stand watching animals being hurt by human foolishness.
I'm sick of seeing abandoned animals every summer, I'm sick of finding kittens tied in bags or thrown in the garbage -sometimes puppies too, animals being poisoned or abused, and so on. If someone doesn't like them that's fine with me. As long as they do nothing to harm them.Β
I also consider myself a crazy cat guy -planning to make my future house a cat paradise, mhm mhm.

Yea, if I could afford to feed and care for them, I would have 100 or more cats.
I have taken care of many strays in the past, and some I have kept, but others I have taken to a shelter or given to good homes.Β
My oldest brother, Gary, lives in Austin, Texas and he has no less than 6 or 8 strays around the outside of his house all the time. He feeds them and gives them all names, usually names of famous artists, or philosophers.

Awuh, that's so kind of you. I rarely find other people that love animals in my area so I'm really relieved and happy that people such as your brother and yourself exist.Β
Both my Rudy and Alaska were strays. I also name all my strays -you may have noticed that in my gallery- even though people tell me it's weird. Truth is, I recognise them all, they all have a story, a background and a unique personality. Others maybe can tell the difference between them, but I can recognize every cat and dog that lives in my area in a few seconds.Β
Aaaand, I also help with adoptions, as much as I can. I'm still a student, I don't have a job and I can't really help as much as I want to..but I know I've helped animals that probably wouldn't survive. And now they have a chance to live and feel loved like they deserve.Β

I know. They are not at all like dogs or other animals.
Don't get me wrong, I like dogs too, but cats are just better.
They make great pets, because they are (usually) quiet, don't (usually) make big messes, and they love you unconditionally, IF you're good to them.
They are also great judges of character. If someone comes in your house, and the cats don't like them, chances are that person has character flaws and can't be trusted.
Just sayin'.

Catist In reply to moonfairy1999 [2014-04-22 21:02:39 +0000 UTC]
I completely agree with you. I love all animals, it's just that I admire cats a little bit more. You can't make them love you or obey you by giving them food and water. You can't make them do anything without their permission -instead they're the ones who 'train' you. They'll come on your lap and purr to show you their affection when they want to and if they want to. That doesn't mean they can't be loyal and they can't get attached to you. For example, every time I go to school both my cats wait for me till I return with their faces to the window. Alaska cries if I don't hug her and let her crawl under my blanket at night. -She used to do that ever since 20 days old.- I think these are signs that they love me and trust me, and I gained their trust. And indeed they are great judges of character; I always watch how they react to people and they always seem to know whether someone likes them or is scared and so on. Well, Alaska doesn't like anyone, to be honest, but Rudy seems to like the people I like and the opposite.Β

Aw, that's so sweet.
Both my cats love to curl up in the bed with me.
They are always ready to snuggle. If I go anywhere and stay gone longer than usual, they let me know I am in trouble when I get home. When I was working, it never failed, Bitzi would be sitting just inside the door when I opened it waiting to greet me.
Bobbi might be lying down when I walked in, but she would get up to meow at me, asking where the HECK had I been???
They are so sweet, who could ask for anything more??
I do feel lucky that they have allowed me to be their HUMAN!!

Same here. To be honest, no matter how everything seems miserable sometimes and my mood can't get any worse, it only takes spending a few minutes with Rudy and Alaska to make me feel better.Β
2014 didn't really start well for me, I've lost some people really important, and my cats always knew what to do to make me forget. They still do. And nobody else can.
