Beautiful, touching story. I've always wanted to go to Greece, but then again I'm terrified of it at the same time because I can't carry home all the pieces my heart will surely fall apart into when I see all the stray animals I can't do anything for. ;; n ;;

Maybe a fence or something like that would have helped. A cat-secure balcony. But well, why doing something expensive like that for a cat?
Bwah. Maybe I´m wrong with my opinion about some people. And it´s too late to speculate...
Cute little Bran. May he play in cat heaven, on all of his four legs.

What hurts the most is that the vet asked me if I could foster him and i said no. Because I wanted a break -which didn't happen anyway.
And I feel so horribly, horribly guilty. It's my fault, partly.

Thank you so much.
Bran improves day by day, fortunately.
I also have two cats that I rescued from different situations, and occassionally I foster kittens I find till they go in their forever homes.
It's amazing how quickly they regain their trust to human race if just one person starts to care about them..

No. It's kinda selfish but I will refuse to put to sleep any animal that still has the will to live.
He eats, he purrs, he uses his litterbox properly most of the times, he plays.. even with three or two legs, he still wants to live.

OMG!!
Ri, I am for the first time speechless.
I sat here for a long time before I could even start to type again. I became physically ill when I read this little guy's story.
Ri, you know how I feel about cats. All cats, not just the so-called "pretty" or "normal" ones.
It breaks my heart into a million pieces to know what happened to this precious baby.
I cannot even find the words to tell you how I really feel.
I agree, most people would have him put down.
But I am with your vet friend, and if there is a chance that he can survive having only two legs, (Oh, My Gawd!!!), then the only right thing to do is to give him every chance to do so.
I have to tell you, the more I see, read, and hear about the way the people of Greece treat helpless little animals, the more I detest them. There is no excuse, no excuse in the Universe why anyone should get away with such cruelty to any animals of any kind.
Hell, I'd rather see a human being get treated this way than a poor defenseless animal! At least the human would have a chance to fight back and defend himself!
It really sickens me that this kind of absolutely unforgivable, deplorable, inhumane, disgusting, and ILLEGAL behavior is still allowed to go on where you live.
If I was there, I would seriously think about committing murder on these lowlife less than human pieces of shit!!
And I am non-violent by nature, but in the defense of any animal that was being threatened or harmed, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I am sorry to ramble on this way, but you know how passionate I am about cats and the treatment of them.
Anyone who doesn't agree with me, or has a problem with my statements, can go straight to HELL!
Sorry, Ri, but this one really really affected me, to say the least.
Keep me updated on the little guy's condition, and let me know when the surgery is, and that it goes well.
Also, I am interested in the vet's prognosis. Will there be prosthetics involved, or maybe a kitty walker, or something? Because otherwise, how is he going to get around?
Keep me informed, OK?
I will worry about this little cutie until I know that he will be OK.

Yes, there are many people who abuse animals in my country.
That doesn't mean all Greek people should be despised. There are many good people as well, I can guarantee you that, my friend.
It's not a matter of nationality I think. I'm not try to make up excuses for all the horrible people who abuse animals, but I really think that there should be educational programmes at school about how to deal with and care for animals. Hell, most people in my area even think that it's not natural to neuter your pet, yet it's totally acceptable to throw babies away to die..or worse.
Even now, Bran is moving around, mostly using his good front leg, and the other front leg as support. The vet said a kitty walker will work, if we can save the two front legs. There is a lady that has a kitty with two legs only, but they are the back legs. And it moves as well as any other cat, he can even jump.
This story really affected me as well though..I cannot understand, I don't want to understand how could someone do this.

Yes, I believe you.
I should never make blanket statements about a people of any country.
I was just so so upset reading Bran Stark's story, that I was enraged, and lost control a little.
I am positive that there are far more good people in Greece than I gave it credit for.
After all YOU are there.
I think it is a wonderful idea to educate people in a school setting about the proper way to treat and maintain pets and other animals.
I mean, as an educator myself, I am all for anything that increases the knowledge base of a people on any subject, especially the subject of the care of animals.
Maybe there is a way you can get your vet friend to get together with your school system, and develop a program to educate the people of your area on the subject, and as the one with the most experience in handling all the throw-aways you handle all the time, you could play a part in implementing the program in your school. Maybe from behind the scenes, since you don't like being in the spot light.
I have 100% faith that Bran Stark will exceed all our hopes and wishes in his recovery, and in the use of a kitty walker as a means to get around.
And all the people who told you to put him down will choke on their words, because I can see him making a fool out of all of them.
If he is already using his two front legs in the manner in which you say, there should be no reason he can't fly around on a kitty walker!!
I see dogs all the time who use those things, and are perfectly fine.
Good work, my friend!!
LOVE and HUGS to you and all your feline comrades.

I also believe he will be fine.
He's more energetic than he was the first days he was found.
There is a really minor chance that he might start using one of his back legs again.. the vet saw a slight movement. However the other leg is dead and will be cut off once he gets stronger.
I am still haunted by this kitten..
