He woke up. He licked his paw, the way he used to every morning.
Then he got up. He suddenly realized.. that he wasn't in pain, not anymore. He realized that he could walk. Without dragging his back legs behind him. And, excited as he was, he kept walking. He'd miss the family that never had the chance to meet him. He'd miss the doctor, and all those people that longed to see him walk again. "Look at me! I'm walking!", he meowed softly, before he disappeared.
But all I saw was a tiny body, mutilated from the fall.
Bran left us on 16th September 2014. He was making great progress, and was in a foster house. He was using his two front legs very well, and there was hope that he would move one of his back legs as well.
The people who fostered him, carelessly let him stay on their house's balcony.
And Bran tried to fly..

This is Bran Stark.
His story isn't beautiful. Not at all.

Bran Stark is about 30 days old. He was born mostly black [if you except his white paws and chin] and apparently that's a reason to be punished, according to some fellow humans in my area.
Bran stands on one single leg. The rest three were smashed with something heavy, probably a stone. He was screaming for almost two days before my vet found him, and she took him in. Nobody else cared. Bran is 'just another cat', after all. He escaped getting euthanized due to his strong will to live. But his back legs won't come back. They'll have to be cut off when he is strong enough to go through a surgery. The front leg shows some movement so hopefully it won't have to be cut too. But we will have to wait at least 2 weeks to find out.
What do you see into his eyes?
I see pain, but also endurance. I see trust.
I work with Bran every day and it's amazing and heart-breaking what a lovely baby he is. He never complains, he just looks at you and waits patiently. He drags his body around with this one good leg that he has, just to come close to you.
