Description
After entering Royally Frozen II last year I couldn't miss out on the sister competition
And DAMM i'm proud on this one. I tried to work with the perspective and depth of the cave and not use my 'standard' arena grid. Although the tail is blocking like half the drawing, it was hard to really put any extra details in de background beside the rocks and light effects.
Since I already have a lot of drawings with Lumos in his golden gear I decided to use a silver one for this competition :3

Story
Caithlyn was traveling alone with Lumos to the competition. During the winter it was not possible to leave one person running the ranch. Especially since there had been many new horses arriving at the Rockyfall. The ways to the show were clear, luckily. It had snowed a little and some parts of the roads were still a bit slippery. It didn't take long before the stable of Vizseryn came in view. It looked beautiful with that thin layer of snow! Caithlyn couldn't look long though, since she was still driving. She parked the car and trailer in the parking lot, turned off the engine and walked to the back of the trailer to load out Lumos.
Since Lumos already had a lot of practice there was not a lot of need for a big rehearsal. Caithlyn walked around the cave arena with him and made sure he was aware of his new temporary surrounding. The walls were extremely high, but the big hole in the ceiling gave enough light to lit up the whole cave. Since the arena was empty Caithlyn removed his halter. She lead him to the middle of the arena and put her arm up. Lumos stood still and threw his head up. Even though the routine was on music Lumos learned to remember certain movements through the body movements of Caithlyn. Caithlyn bowed down and so did Lumos. He put one leg forward and slowly bowed. Caithlyn clapped in her hand and Lumos slowly came back up. Caithlyn turned around and gave the signal that meant that Lumos had to follow her. So he did. After a few rounds around the arena it was clear he knew they were doing a small practice for the routine. Caithlyn saw him getting a bit too tired and asked him to stop. Lumos put his head towards Caithlyn while standing still and breathed in to her face. Although Caithlynwas used to it, she also knew he sneezed a lot. So, she softly pushed his nose down while petting it. She put his halter back on and walked back to his resigned stable where he could enjoy a few carrots and a good sleep.
The sky was dark, but Caithlyn could see the rain falling when looking in to the lamps around the stable. Caithlyn loved rain. The rain ticking the window and the pleasant cold radiating from the window. That vibe combined with a warm blanket and some tea were all Caithlyn ever wanted in the evening. Although there was a small thing on her mind. She was worried that the cave would flood and the competition might be canceled. Just as her mind wanted to go deeper into the negative though she heard a beep coming from her phone. She turned the screen on and saw a message from Dante. She opened it and started to read.
Dante: Hii, everything is fine on the ranch! We had a bit of rain so everything is muddy again, but hey what's new. Leona has given most of the horses exercise and we also had someone answer our job offer! He is named Carlo and his resume looks pretty good. And if I remember correctly he also has been in some live aired competition I saw a while back. Anyway... I hope you had as much a busy day as Leona and I had. Good luck tomorrow and try to sleep a little
Caithlyn: Hii! Good to hear from you. And an answer on that job so soon?! People are like sharks when it comes to that it seems. Lumos has been a sweetheart, but he was a bit tired from the trip. So it was just a walk through the competition arena and back to the stable. I'll film parts of the competition and take some photo's! Expect some spam of it tomorrow.
Caithlyn closed her phone. Her tea was now at her perfect temperature. She sipped it up and started outside for a few minutes before going to bed. Today was the big show day after all so she needed all the energy she could get.
It was a bit cold. There were still tiny raindrops falling from the edge of the ceiling. Lumos was standing in the middle of the arena. Thanks to the early morning sun there were rays of light glowing in the arena; showing tiny particles flying through the air. Lumos looked at Caithlyn. She was standing in the entrance of show next to the judges. She gave Lumos a nod and started the music for his routine. The first part of the song was an uprising sound. Lumos heard the uprise and trotted to his starting point. He put up his head and then slowly lowered it in to a bow. He got up and let the music flow. When the high peaks of the song came he jumped a little in the light so his fur would reflect and he got the full spotlight. To the slower parts he slowed down and showed the judges how high and graceful he could lift and drop his feat in the pale sand. Every time his hooves hit the sand a little cloud would puff up. Lumos noticed this. The ending of the song was coming near. The last high notes were playing he started to enter gallop and when the high note hit he made a turn, reared as high as he could al while making sure his tail made a dramatic cloud in the background. The spotlight, the cloud and the shiny fur made it look like a perfect picture. The song ended and Lumos once again bowed. After the bow he walked to Caithlyn who took her rope, put in on Lumos and guided him out of the arena.
After the competition Lumos got not 1 bucket but 2 buckets filled with carrots! Caith saw that he gave it his all and he made the best performance that he had lived till that point. She was a proud trainer and owner.
