This took my breath away. I can't say that I've ever before seen a fragile beauty portrayed with such minimalism.
The gorgeous subject matter combined with your use of medium-neutral colors makes this work very easy on the eyes. Speaking of eyes... The eyes radiate a muted strength and a longing to reach a far off goal. The short poem in your comments made me do something I've not done in long while; I wondered.
I wondered what happened to the figure.
I wondered what she feels and why she feels it.
I wondered why she holds the rose so close to her face and what it means to her.
I wondered what she was put through for her eyes to hold their silent strength and her lips to hold their blank expression.
I wondered what her voice would sound like.
I wondered how often she smiled.
I wondered if, when she leans in for a kiss, if she closes her eyes.
I wondered if she was on her own in the implied journey, if you will, that she is going through.
I wondered if she was a loner.
All these things I wondered within ten seconds of looking at this work. With no overly complex shapes and unnecessary color or detail, my imagination ran circles around your work and played through what-if scenarios. I know this is a round-about way of saying it, but your work spoke to me. It radiates poetic genius like a finely written tragedy.
In short, this is true art.
