I have drawn around 7900 different symmetric patterns and textures in the last three years Practice really does help a lot with drawing speed for these ^^ At most, I have managed to draw 275 patterns in one day xD

It also really helps that the digital painting program I use has a multi-tool feature that allows you to draw in multiple axis of rotational symmetry at the same time which really speeds up the progress on the pattern making
If you`d like to try this type of pattern drawing, Krita is completely free to use and I have made a tutorial on making patterns with it:

275 in one day... *brain glitches out* ... *attempting to restart brain* DARNIT CATSPACE YOU DESTROYED MY BRAIN.

*Eventually reboots brain* I'd figured you probably only drew one half of one spoke, and then mirrored and replicated it to make the rest (depending on the design, given that some of them don't have symmetrical spokes) but even a single half-spoke contains a lot of intricate detail.

Thank you very much for the tutorial. I've never used Krita before, but I'm going to check it out at some point. Have you ever used Photoshop? If so, are they similar?

Basically, the nice thing is that the mirror and replicating thing is done by Krita *while* I am drawing ^^ It really helps Also, symmetric pattern drawing is actually super fast once you get used to it, especially if you do a lot of drawings in a row using the same colour scheme and same brush engines (less playing around with settings)

I have used photoshop but around 12 or so years ago =/ I think that they should be similar enough that if you have used one, you should be able to use the other to at least some extent. It is true, they might not 100% do things the same way though and I am not sure where Photoshop has a multi-tool feature for example.

That does sound incredibly handy! I've never looked for the multi-tool feature, but I should look into that.

Do you, by any chance, have any speedpaints? I think it would be fascinating to watch one of these beautiful patterns come into being!
