ALSO I ALMOST FORGOT, ON JUNE 18TH ITS DAGNAS BIRTHDAY AAAH

Tiny extra for RDHS 2021 - On Wednesday we wear Pink.
Why? Because Beau is a treasure, Dagna has been always my delight to write and Rovie deserves some love lately
Also, an excellent excuse just to draw Nane and Maia, who are absolutelly beautiful

In the early hours of the morning, maybe an hour before anyone started to warm up their horses, Dagna appreciated the excitement yet, the calmness of the moment. People were moving their horses around - some from stables, some went to look for them at a paddock, some were already tacking them up; whatever the reason, there was an ambience of joviality and expectation at that hour that she has started to love and relish on. As his dad started to comb her hair to make a braid, she stared up to Beau's already braided mane and face, distractedly recognizing a Lion King song as background music; Loud enough to be heard everywhere but low enough to not be distracted by it. At this realization, she recognized her father lowly humming the tune while his fingers played with her hair.

Braids; he always made her braids and they always looked good or, at least, decent. Didn't a girl in her class say that her father didn't know how to comb in any way hair?
"Dad?"
"Yeah" was his distracted answer maybe a second too late, still humming the Lion King tune
"How did you learn to comb hair?" at this, not only did he give her a huffed laugh but Beau turned to look at her with curiosity, almost as if asking why such a ridiculous question should ever be asked.
She mleped at her, making her giggle.
"What do you mean by that?" was the actual answer, stopping for a few seconds on the braid he was carefully combing "I've always combed your hair, kid"
"I know... but María said once, men don't know how to braid hair" she gained a laugh again, this time with more disbelief and amusement on it than before.
"Well, maybe! You are very well aware that neither Mateo nor Jim can't really take care of your hair" at this, it was her time to laugh, gaining a little mlep again from Beau again "but I actually learned when I was younger than you."
"Really?" she asked, amazed for a second "how?"
"I used to braid Emily's hair all the time" he chuckled, a small smile that she couldn't really see appearing on his face "when she was a kid just like you, she didn't really know how to make braids ... to anyone. Not even the horses, dolls or herself, obviously. So I did it for her."
"Your mom taught you?"
"Nah" was the fast, short answer "I highly doubt she ever knew how to do it. Oma did, though and... braiding dad's horses"
She was quiet for a moment, taking on the new information, processing the fact that practizing on horses was one of the main reasons.
"Did your dad know too?"
"No" he chuckled again, finishing the braid and turning her around, checking how it looked. She trusted it looked fine "That's why we would braid his horses with Jim, we would take pity of any horse he tried to groom."
he sighed and before she could ask anything else, he gave her a smile and a look that spoke without any kind of words; she was well aware of how much love this man could express and how proud he usually felt because of her. Usually, even if expressive of his emotions he didn't have that many words to express it.
"Love you" she smiled at him, knowing it was what he needed but didn't know he needed it. He chuckled, nodding.
"Love you too, kid" he spared a glance to Beau and said, "when did Beatrice learn to stick her tongue out?"
