Description My second piece of art from Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) IV, this character is the older sister of [link]

Mara (Manya in some translations) is a dancer who casts various fire and debilitation spells, and most commonly strikes her enemies with either a staff, fan (pictured) or nifty Venomous Dagger. An incredibly versatile character, yada yada yada....

This came out quite well, considering that I don't normally draw characters like this. There's a lot of bangles and jewelry in this picture, and I wanted to make sure I got every piece I could fit into it. Here's the original I was "copying": [link] All I really did was add the fire and take away a couple of random little details.

Actually, I think it was something I saw on Ares, a file-sharing program I use. But it was all en EspaΓ±ol, with no English subtitles, so I couldn't understand any of it. I'm sure I could find it again though!

yeah i knew it!! not that long ago neither right??

yeah, it was on spanish cuz it's quite a legendary show around here. i asume you were searching for something more related to the dragon quest games??

now, if you still don't understand spanish, your only chance would be japanese with english subtitles, but i think it would be very hard to find!!

Yeah, I was looking for something more like the game at that time.

My Spanish is getting better, but I still probably couldn't watch a whole episode in Spanish yet.

hehe i bet!
well, actually this series is quite peculiar. it basically is a videogame! seriously, the whole story is supposed to be a videogame in course, in the manga the characters even have stadistics that changes as the story goes on, hehe they even open some treasure chest after beating the boss to get a new item!!! they go to stores to buy healing potions and weapons.
it's very cool!!!

the spanish voices are legendary around here, excelent quality!! there's also the nostalgic factor.
you know? i'm planning to make a journal with a very complete, extensive tour through my childhood by looking at the shows i used to watch!

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to match or outdo the original.

Yeah, there are certain airbender qualities to her costume, aren't there?

That's too bad. It's always a let-down when a series you like ends. I'm still (in a way) bummed about Avatar finally coming to a close...

But didn't they just did 3 books so far? Last time I counted, 4 classical elements.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Catula In reply to MysticM [2008-09-29 17:16:07 +0000 UTC]

Yep, and the story was meant to be told in only three books. The creators of the show didn't want to have any more story than that, because they thought it would get too long, and the story wouldn't have as much impact being stretched any farther. There was talk a while ago about making either a spin-off series or a bunch of short, three-to-five-minute episodes or something like that. I haven't heard any word on whether or not that's going to take effect though.

Heh, technically speaking, they did show a special parody thing at the last Comic-Con about "Book 4", which was really just them completely bashing the fandom's outlook on couples that fans argue "should have" been in the show. It was one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen.

I love how the show and it's creators are so with the fandom than most series of media.

People tend to forget that creators and famouse people are still regular guys you can get along with.

Ofcourse some let it get to there head.
